I’ve had the F8 about 3 months and just now noticed the paint rub on forward panel of 2 piece roof. Spider. Watching this forward panel fold upside down I see it sits on of a rubber enclosure labeled EDPM. There was grit on top of this. Whether the top actually touched this grit, hard to say. The other thing I noticed I’d the edges of the top when fully closed get very close (maybe touches?) the upholstery backing and this fabric is very course. I didn’t see that this backing had pulled out and when I pushed, it only moved 1/8”. But unless I caused the marring with a rag or soap applicator, I would think it’s one of these 2 culprits and since no one else is reporting, probably not the upholstery. Pic below. So: 1. Am I missing something? 2. Does Ferrari have touch up paint out for their 2022 colors? Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are a bunch of micro switches that adjust the roof mechanism. I wouldn’t try to do it myself, either a dealer or an independent who knows how to do it. As for the paint, I can’t offer a suggestion. - hopefully it can be touched up.
Hard to tell in a photo but a high end detailing person might be able to polish this back to look like it should. Touch up metallic paint never lays the metallic part of the paint down correctly. If it needs painted a pro paint shop would need to respray.
As a detailer and from the photo, that does not look to be through the paint. Looks like it can be cleaned up and polished out carefully without burning the edge… and then, of course, have the alignment of moving parts corrected to avoid it happening again. That would be great if case and will see a detailer next week. I am attaching a thin piece of silk on the rubber enclosure and on the coarse insulation until I feel like driving over 5 hours to nearest dealership. Thanks for everyone’s input.
Given you have a spider a word of caution : If you use sunscreen, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly to make sure you dont have any sunscreen on your hands. The stuff is nasty on paint. The worst part is that certain grades that have the Anatase version of Titanium dioxide are mutagens. If your in Europe due to legislation most now have the Rutile grade and are OK. Other places in the world it is not regulated and manufacturers do not disclose which type they use. BE CAUTIOUS.
I prefer to be constantly covered in astroglide. I stay ready so I don’t have to get ready. MambaMentality.
Ok fine, we’ll give you your man card back again. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
