Hello fellow fchaters I wanted to get a good paint thickness gauge to add to my tool box ...anyone gave good success with a digital gauge that is not too expensive Let me know your experiences I understand that some can measure the different layers individual..but not sure if I understood correctly Thanks in advance Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I have the same Gage. Very easy to use and very rugged. Records multiple values and you can down load to a PC This is one of the few type that will read both steel and alloy surfaces. The really cheap ones are usually magnetic based and only read steel sub-straight
I too use a DeFelkso. The PosiTector 200. It will read ferrous, non-ferrous, plastic, carbon fiber, etc. A good 'cheap' gauge is the Highline gauge. Around $250.00. Reads both ferrous and non-ferrous. This is the gauge I used prior to getting my Defelsko. Hope this helps!
As mentioned above, the Defelsko 200 advanced will be the gauge that reads all surfaces. Ultrasonic gauge that comes with gel to be applied before reading. I've been using it for quite some time now and I love it. Bumpers and carbon can be read with this but like all gauges, these aren't perfectly precise. You will get a good idea but none are 100%.
