i am looking at a Canadian 348 and the ferrari dealer is wanting to paint the hood and spoiler prior to delivery and is including in the price. I was hoping to have an original paint but hear all the time most have some corrections done to them even if not wrecked. What is the consensus on value impact on cars with paint work on these cars? I did search and the threads are older, just curious on this day and age. Thanks
In my opinion it depends on the reason. I wouldn't buy a car that was wrecked and repaired (usually) but I would buy one that had a quality re-spray because of rock chips. Quality being the key word. It has to be done right.
Actually, it's not hard to find at all. Those cracks are hairline and most people won't bother fixing the issue. The 2 95 GTB's I own(ed) have them. My 98 GTS does not. Front bumper are an entirely different matter. If not resprayed, they will be at some point. (If the car is driven)
Correct, I know dealing with other makes that repainted cars or panels resprayed greatly impacted resale value. I am not looking to buy one for resale my plan is it would stay with me for a long time, was just curious on how everyone viewed it.
A lot of these cars had body panels resprayed at the Factory after their test-drives. When they arrived here, they were inspected at the port of delivery by a Ferrari agent and sent to a Factory-authorized coachwork shop to manage any other paint imperfections.
Any car from the 90s especially a car as low as a 355 will have the bumper resprayed at one point. Both my M5 and M coupe have the front bumper resprayed as well as the 96 Viper GTS I had. I would not worry about it. Larry
Thank you all. I traveled up and checked out the TB that was on here a couple of weeks ago and put a deposit on it so it should be heading south in a few weeks (that was a long drive and day). I do appreciate the candid feedback on this as it helped push me over the edge.
