Never had an autococker but I've shot plenty of them and they can take a bit of getting used to. There is a "style" you have to somewhat learn when shooting with the autococker. You have to make sure you fully press and release the trigger or you will have lots and lots of chops and squegeeing to do. For under 200 does not sound like a bad price either. I am assuming just the marker no mask, hopper, tank, etc? Make sure you get your gun tuned to run on compressed air as it is much better in efficiency, consistency, and for the durability of your gun.

Ive gone paintballing. I looked into buying a bunch of gear and stuff, you can sink a ton of money into paint ball. Its really fun though!

yeah its just for the gun i heard about the cocker issues but i think the learning curve makes up for the performance of the gun. the trilogy line is designed for co2 so i can save like 150 on the tank just use the one i have

I might go up to Huntington Beach to watch the paintball tournament on the beach, my brother works for DYE so im hoping he can hook me up with some team passes. When i go i just use his DM5 plus he get free paint so it makes the trips to the field a bit cheaper. It is definatly an expensive sport.

I was at HB06 (and HB03, HB04, HB05 if anyone cares), my team placed 3rd in division 3. I was strongly considering posting an invite on F chat but figured it wasn't the right scene for the ferrari crowd.

If anyone is interested on the other coast, there is another big tournment in Tampa on May 19-21 and my team will be there as well.

I would not recommend an autococker. This was the marker to have back in the day, but its day has since come and gone. The new 'affordable' paintball marker is the Smart Parts Ion. It retails for around $250.00, which is a little bit out of your price range but I assure you that the extra $50 is well worth it. The Ion is electronic (no more short-stroking the trigger - chop), reliable, and has break-beam anti-chop eyes. There are a number of teams that have done quite well using Ions in professional tournments, though it was more of a publicity stunt than an actual preference.

I was looking at either the smart part ion you can get it for 200 or a tippman A-5 but i got a great deal on an A-5 so i went with the A-5 with response trigger so it goes full auto if i want to and ive never used the ion or know anyone who does so i wasnt that sure about the gun

    James,

Im a veteran of the sport going back to 1990. I think Fchat Masterman Rob Lay is also a seasoned vet getting his kicks in the trracer and phantom days like I...

Fire it a few times with the stock barrel and then if you can, try out the flatline. I have Tippmann as well with the E-trigger and a decent PMI Nitrogen tank. The flatline adds range that you would not believe. However, with the trigger setup and cyclone system (which I have heard is similar to the RT), the gun is a air hog. An extra tank would not be that bad of an idea for woods play with your friends. Have fun and I hope you enjoy the sport. It is what you make of it and I wish you the best.

Thats an understatement....I calculated about what I've spent on the sport and I think I'm above 10 grand. But it's worth it. Probably the most fun sport I've played. I use to play on an amature team in Las Vegas but haven't played much since moving for college. If there's anyone in AZ that wants to play let me know, I really miss it.

Had a sweet Custom Matrix and a 98 Custom with all the bells and whistles. Played woods and indoors on average 1+ times a week. Then I became a dad, and a dad and a dad yet again. Somewhere in the middle of all of that my gear went onto Ebay.....wasn't worth holding onto $2,500+ in gear that I never used. Proceeds went into F-Car fund. I do miss playing though - and still go now and then, but it hurts using the field gear after the stuff I used to play with. Any of you NY'ers want to go out for a day, I'm in.

When i picked up the gun i was told it went through of air so i got a 24 and a 20 i hope that will be ok for play. No that i have it i can see why the RT and the cyclone feed, feed off of the co2 but i think it will be worth it if i can find someone who has that barrel i would like to try it to see how i ilke it.
I cant wait to go out and play

I had the Flatline before. It has incredible range but NO accuracy from my experience! I snuck up from behind some guys and shot of a few shots from about 20 feet away, the balls kept spinning away!

My favorite gun is the Autococker. I had an 03 or 04, I forgot which year exactly. It was reliable and consistent.

You're all making me miss paintball!

No to hi-jack but I got into "Airsoft" about a year ago. I used to play paintball years ago in high school but interest fell off. I like airsoft because the guns are ultra realistic, no paint involved, and it's about the same price as the paintball.

Around the house? When we play it's in the woods and it's great fun. The range is comparable to paintball or slightly less. But the realism is what sold me.

oh, the airsoft I'm referring to are full auto electric rifles. They run on Ni-Cad batteries and shoot around 15 bb's per second. They're pretty wicked.
