Curious if anyone has seen/owns 328 with same painted muffler grille/lower front bumper parts? Mine is a '89 Swiss car (no ABS) and I've seen a Japanese market car with the same painted sections. I'm wondering if this could be factory, "dealer-installed" or definitely aftermarket? Appreciate the collective wisdom of the forum! Be sure that is not original from the factory, for any market. Same for the mirror.

This is strange registration on a Swiss car !?

Thanks, I didn't realize the mirrors were also supposed to be black. As for registration: I imported the car to the USA from Switzerland.

Pretty common modification especially in Japan. There was a monochromatic craze for a while.

On special request some roof spoilers were panted body color and a few cars had Boxer paint. I am aware of 2 cars that had at special request the front grilles anodized black.

This car and its GTB garage mate both have factory anodized grills.

    Brian,

paint roof spoiler is common in Europe but I don't know anything about front grilles anodized black. Is it from the factory or from the importer ?

Documented from factory. Factory always did anything for a price. It just was not common.

#82961 and #82269 Both have leather interior, body color rear spoiler.

One is last USA GTS and one is 2nd to last USA GTB

I was aware of the Boxer paint and body color roof spoiler option (although I thought not available in US) so figured perhaps the painted front and rear grille were also factory options. The car is bone stock in every other aspect. Thanks for the info, btw I think the anodized grille looks quite good.

The factory would do nearly anything for a fee. The important part is having factory documentation. The cars I spoke about all have factory documentation.

Some things were just common modifications in period, like yours, or a body color GTS roof. But I have never seen factory documentation for those.
