Im just about to give up on finding a Pearl Yellow 6.0 and have two choices other than another car.
    1. Just buy a second or third favorite color and trade up when one comes availiable
    2. buy any color and strip it and repray it eigher Lambos Pearl Yellow or even maybe Honda/Acuras Spa Yellow Peal (like my NSX) cause it seem to be a MUCH deeper, brighter, and more radiant yellow, plus any work that could be done like all the engine out service or clutch could be done then too :)

anyways, whats a repaint on a 6.0 go for?? Im sure all the crabon fiber is gonna make it more of an ordeal, but Im running outta options :(

Have you contacted Mr. Cats? He seems to know where most of the 6.0s are.

Do you think that you could justify spending that kind of money on a car that you don't really LOVE? Even if it is a temporary fix you still gotta look at it.

I would have to imagine that stripping, sanding and respraying a whole car is going to run you more than the $199 special at Earl Schieb. We are talking thousands and thousands and thousands. This is money that you will not be able to negotiate off the selling price of the car. Just because it isn't your favorite color dosen't mean that someone else isn't dying for the car in titanium. I know that you have mentioned that you are not planning to sell the car...ever...but forever is a long time and taking the car from the colors that it left Italy will severly damage the resale value of the car too.

Good luck in whatever you do decide. It is an awsome car regardless of the colors. Keep your fingers crossed and get a professional with connections out there looking.

Go with this option. I can't imagine the cost of a repaint. And/or as suggested above, contact Roy Cats. I know him well and when I am ready to sell my 512 TR and get a Diablo or a Murci, I will be calling him.

    Dan,

I am not paint expert, however a few years ago I had my Corvette pulled apart, the paint stripped, the fiberglass sanded smooth, and had several coats of Polo Green (the original color) reapplied along with clear coat at a top of the line facility. Needless to say, the bill for all of the work was over 10K and the car was PERFECT.

My point is that if you go with a respray, expect to pay AT LEAST 15K or more to have it done right on a car like a Diablo. I would not trust just anybody to take my Diablo apart, strip it, sand it, paint it, AND put it back together...the guys out there who could do a first class job will certainly demand first class compensation...but then again, what's new!!!!

Good luck, and remember, the hunt is often more fun than the kill. Your car is coming!!!

I know its gonna be alot
to repaint an NSX it would be around 10k+, so Im sure the 6.0 is a tad more
my best hope when it comes to repainting it like a "less desirably silver" one hoping the price differnce between the more desierable yellows will cover the cost :)

also, I dont care about resale, im sure when theres only 20 or so yellows to choose from mine wont be a sore thumb, just one more choice and likely better quality of paint :)...like the F40s. Also IF I ever do sell it it would be waaaaaaaaaay down the line where it will have depreciated BIGTIME and the actual resale price will be of little concern, Ill never buy a car worrying about what it will be worth later, just whats it worth to me now :)

maybe another color is best, then I can sell it and move up to yellow if it turns out to be as fun to drive as I hope, if it lets me down then Ill move onto a CS or something :)

That would be a cool color for that car. I've seen it on a Murci and it is one of my favorite colors.

Don't do it, don't do it. Once the carbon fiber gets stripped/sanded it will loose the weave pattern that is visible on the angle. IMO a re-paint will devalue the car and be a softer paint job compared to the the factory.

Have patience and call Roy....I'm sure that he will find you a car of your dreams. In the end it will be worth it.

    dan,

this will be the second pearl yellow 6.0 has roy has for sale in the last 6 months...so they are available out there.

if you are aggressively motivated/desperate enough to consider spending 15k to 20k to alter the original paint job of a 155k to 160k car (the cheapest 6.0 non pearl-yellow or orange), then paying upper +180k to low 190 for a nice clean and original pearl yellow is a HUGE BARGAIN. anything less than that price range, you are stealing it.

general consensus is the value of the 6.0's will onlky trend higher into the upper 190's and low 200's so time isn't really your friend. roy only handles cleaniest cars for the best price...my advice to you is, if you are serious in your pursuit, take this one before someone else does.

best of luck to your search.
