I am taking the 328 GTB in for the major in the next few weeks and I was thinking of having the calipers painted at the same time. Here are the choices of what I was thinking:

    1) Black with yellow Ferrari script
    2) Yellow with black Ferrari script
    3) Rosso Scuderia with yellow Ferrari script

I am leaning toward choice number 1 but any feedback would be well appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, here is a pic of the car for reference.

This is a FERRARI and not a Mercedes or an Audi

Thank you for all the nice comments. That is an old pic (car looks even better today) and I have since sold those wheels - they were one offs. They are basically a 3 piece Speedline wheels made off of the Challenge wheels. I have replaced them with one piece Challenge wheels. I'm working on those now.

Thanks for all of the input, guys. Please keep it coming.

I remember when you sold those wheels. I've never been a fan of aftermarket wheels on our cars, but I always thought those looked great. Any pictures of the wheels you're working on now?

Not yet but soon. Hopefully by spring you'll see them. Nothing special, just 1pc challenge wheels made to fit the late 328. The color is going to be the question. And since they will show the brakes, now is a good time to fix up the calipers.

Can i recommend going with powder coating over painting, Paint will not last long, paint will chip with road debris a lot easier than powder, I do a lot of calipers and I always powder coat, a few more steps a little more expensive but the end result is MUCH MUCH better

Thanks, Wade. I think that they will probably end up being powder coated and not painted.

+1. Yellow really pops on a black car. Would look sweet.

Thank you for that. I really do like how the black/yellow looks and doesn't attract too much attention but is a nice detail.

The other thing I was thinking about is whether or not the yellow calipers would get super dirty after a while. It's not like if we have the huge brembo's with the flat out halves that are easy to wipe. The black with yellow might be the way to go.

Thanks again for everyone. I still have until January 8th to make the decision.

My mechanic asked me if I wanted mine painted while he was working on them. I first thought, red. But as he pointed out, the car is red and has yellow in the nose badge and the side scuderia markers. So I went with yellow. It really pops. Would look good on a black car too. I googled that and there are a bunch of examples (painted Ferrari calipers) fyi.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I thought the black/yellow was subtle. If I had a big brake kit then maybe red or yellow, but with the stock calipers being so small I didn't want to draw too much attention to them...kind of like the guys who paint their drum brakes. If I had drum brakes, I would want to hide those as much as possible.

I had a Dodge Dart when i was in High school. Painted white racing stripes on the hood, painted drum brakes, incline 6cy and regular leaded gas. :)

Where can you get the yellow or black lettering? Or is it a stencil and where to get that??
