    Hello there.

So right now I'm in the final steps of my 308 GTSi 1981 restoration.
I will have the car completed repainted and need some information about the details, like where is yellow (my car's original color), where is black, the textures, .... Where can I find some detailed pictures of original cars (same year and model)?

    Thanks a lot.

THis is why I have always said that all of these details should be sorted out before the magical bodyshop strips the paint. They don't care

Looks good, Bruno! Keep up the good work.
I'm sure you will get some different photos and opinions here.
You have taken a lot of time to get your car to this point, so don't be in a hurry for the final paint details now. This will make or break the final result.
As a GT4 enthusiast, I really can't give you any other direction, though.

Often they repaint a car that hadn't original paint nor original paint scheme so it's not only useless, but even wrong

I've seen 328's repainted without the black belt line, body coloured sills and lower spoilers and offered for sale as having "original paint".

That one, for instance: front lower spoiler red, rear lower skirt red, rocker panels red, rear view mirrors red, and of course in "original paint"...and there is another one just like it in Holland, also said to be "completly original"...

Made a separate thread to not hijack this one about that 328 for sale under Goodyear tyres.

Bruno, one thing I missed when I had my red 1980 308 GTSi resprayed many years ago were the elements that should be in black. There are three areas that come to mind: 1. The joint between the rear buttress and the rear wing should be filled with black mastic and not be painted body colour. 2. The windscreen pillars should be black. 3. The swage line should be painted black, not taped.

The engine cover ventilation slats should be satin black, same with the side quarter flaps covering the filler cap. For these flaps, I believe the leading edge should be aluminium but maybe someone can confirm if that's true for all years.

My painter did a superb job overall, but got some of these finer details wrong. It wasn't his fault but I wish I had access to this forum at the time to direct him, so get every detail you can & good luck.

Agreed for all of this, plus:
The engine cover slats are not painted, but anodized, which is more difficult to redo, and more expensive.
You are right in saying that the leading edge of each blade of the grilles covering the quarter windows should be silver (and that does not apply for 328s, by the way).
The swage line should be black, of a reflectance "between satin and matt", and only the vertical part of the line should be black, not the top, not the bottom. There is no overlap of the black line anywhere: it stops "dead right" at the end of each panel, and doesn't curl behind on the back of the panel, nor on the sides.
