It depends on the confition of the car. It’s it’s collector grade, it will lose value. If it’s driver grade, you probably won’t effect it much either way.
I have a 95 GTS it was never an option to have it painted. I purchased a second roof in giallo and painted it to match. That way I had both options without ruining originality. I ended up selling the painted roof as I preferred the black top in the end. You can’t unpaint it once it’s done.
Yes, having both is the perfect solution of course. Only problem is to find a spare one at a reasonnable price. I don't know how much it costs in the US, but here in Europe, a targa top is at least €1500. My car is a driver with 90 000 kms, so I'm really thinking about painting the roof.
I just bought one, I will repaint it in rosso corsa. I keep my black one. Will have 2. Could change the car when I want for berlinetta or GTS lol
Just got my new (previously black textured roof) back from the painters today - really pleased with the finish and colour match. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login If anyone wants my old one PM me Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is my old one which is already painted red. I notice you've just bought one anyway so never mind Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wanted one with the better locking tabs rather than the leather straps plus the cloth on the inside was getting scruffy. Nothing wrong with my old one though if you don't mind that. Old on the left, new on the right. I'm most probably just being fussy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Leather straps? Must be from a 348? It couldn't be changed for the 355 tabs? Just to know, what is the market price for one textured 355 targa top in the US?
My car is a 1990 hence the leather pull tabs. You can still buy the later hard tabs but at over £1500 per side its cheaper to buy a new roof! https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/Diagram/Ferrari/348-tb-ts/105-Roof-Outer-Trims
You're absolutely right! I'm not used to this yet I bought my 355 just 3 months ago. I've always had collector cars, but this is my first Ferrari, and I'm astonished to see how ridiculous some part prices are. Brand new world for me...
It's ridiculous. Thousands for a part that costs $500 is you cross reference. Spend time in the 355 cross ref parts thread.
I usually add a zero at the end of a "normal" price to figure the Ferrari price, but this one is really high for such a part (same part from another brand should cost $50 not $500). Yeah I saw the cross ref parts thread: very usefull.
