Have you guys noticed that the paintwork on the Enzo is much improved over the F40 and F50 ?

I mean before the Enzo, you can see light traces of carbon weave on the F40 and F50...Right ?

But on the Enzo...you can't even see those weave close up !

Are we to say that Ferarri found the answer in painting those carbon bodies ?

Becoz they've mentioned like others it's impossible to remove those carbon weave traces even if you spray on multiple coats of paint !

I think that's why Ferrari subcontract out the spraying of the Enzo bodies to get them done as Ferrari in-house paint shop can't get the job done.

I'll be honest, I like seeing the weave of carbon through the F50 paintwork. I think it reminds you that just beneath the surface lies a very potent F1 inspired vehicle.

I'm sure the Enzo's finish will last longer though !

I think the carbon weave was deliberate on the F40/F50. 1) Paint has weight 2) Painting a car is NOT that hard, ferrari can afford to hire good painters so if the paint looked that way, they wanted it to.

Does anyone have upclose pictures of the CF weave on an F40 or F50?? I havent been close enough to notice this, sounds pretty cool though.

The weave is specially visible on the black F50. This is the best pic I can find...for some reason I didn't take many pictures of this car...I didn't expect my friend to hate the weave and sell the car...

You can see the weave the best at the curve above the gas cap. This is really throughout the car...but only certain angles for the camera to pick up the weave details...

I think it's a matter of taste to have the weave visible or not for owners of the F40 or F50...but with the Enzo....no weave visible at all on paintwork...so I think with feedbacks from owners of the F40 and F50....I think overall consensus is no weave to be seen...so you have Enzo that have no weave visible at all !

Shouldn't it take a while for parts of the weave to shrink, thus exposing the weave though the paint? Which is why the F50 has it and the Enzo dosn't?

Yeah, I had a dealer tell me how much better the paint job was on the Enzo... But, like some of you, I actually liked seeing the weave on the F50.

I agree with those that liked seeing the weave on the F50. I think I remember reading that it can add 70 lbs to the weight of a car to paint it. So if they saved 50 lbs or so by having such thin coats, that's pretty friggin' cool.

The weave rules. As the production of the Enzo neared I read that Ferrari was having trouble getting a suitable black paint. Was it related to problems with it showing too much of the weave?

The Jaguar xjr15 made around the same time as the f40/f50, had as good a paint job as the Ferrari Enzo has now.I guess back then as far as Ferrari were concerned it was pile em high and sell em high!
