Attended the PV Concours today with my Alfa. Beautiful day with many many nice cars displayed on Trump National overlooking the Ocean. Good showing of Dino's as they had their own class (Italian cars where featured). I think there were 10 Dino's with one especially nice Rosso Cordoba GT. The metallic red really 'sang' when the sun came out. I think I have still settled on Grigio with red for my cosmetic restoration but I is hard to choose with so many beautiful colors. Anyone else attend?

Thanks, Tom, that is my car in the picture. You are a good photographer!
It is true that the metallic Rosso Cordoba takes on a very different, and much lighter tone when the sun comes out (don't we all?). I have posted a picture of it in a more neutral light in the color thread.
Still, I think you are absolutely right in choosing Grigio Ferro for your car. Dinos look good in discrete, understated colors, and Grigio can be stunningly beautiful.

    Lars,

Glad you posted here! I was really taken with your car. I can't believe you have been able to keep it in such great condition. How long ago did you say you had it restored or repainted? Hope you didn't mind me showing off your car.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Tom,

I don't mind at all. In fact, I may follow your example and post a little introduction to the car in this forum.
I bought the car in April 1994, 15 1/2 years ago. It had been repainted and freshened up (but not really restored) about two years earlier, so the paint is close to 18 years old now.

Our two cars must clearly have seen each other at the factory! Mine is s/n 05020 so there were only seven cars between them. It's a small world, this world of Dinos.

    Cheers,
    Lars

    Greetings Lars & Tom,
'just a reminder...production Dinos received even numbers. Therefore, your cars were likely separated by only three! A reunion is definitely in order!

    Coop,
Oh, yes, now that you mention it, I recall that only even numbers were used.
    Even smaller world then.
    Glad you reminded us.
    Thanks!

What were the odds, as they trundled along the line together, that they'd be around thirty-seven years later?
What were the odds, as they trundled..., that they'd be around the same neck o' the woods thirty-seven years later?

When you gents beat the odds and once again trundle them along together, please capture that 'on film' for all to share. Perhaps you will plan a follow-on event where we might see 'em up close & personal? That would be very cool.

Expanding on that a bit, what about an annual Dino gathering, such as that of our friends in Germany! Hmmmm.

You got a point there: The fact that they even are around 37 years later...

I really like the idea of an annual Dino gathering. If they can pull it off in Germany, why couldn't we? California would seem the ideal place to have it, and why not Southern California?

Anybody else who likes the idea?

Glad you showed me the links about the gathering in Germany. Great pictures, and an inspiration for us! I would have missed that thread otherwise.

    Many thanks,
    Lars

Lars, at least judging from the photos of your very lovely Dino, my Rosso Fiorano Dino looks very similar in hue. I wonder how close the colors actually are. You have a very stunning 246! Fred

    Fred,
    Thanks! My pride and joy.
The color changes completely in direct sunlight. To me it looks very similar to Rosso Rubino when the sun hits it (except better - well, I am biased!). On an overcast day, it looks similar to Rosso Bordeaux.
I am not sure what Rosso Fiorano looks like. I could not find it in the color thread. Have you posted pictures of your car, or where can I look at that color?

Lars, when I first joined Ferrari Chat last year, the late John Corbani graciously posted some photos of my cars, including front and rear three-quarter shots of my Rosso Fiorano 246 GT. If you look at my first thread ("Greetings"), you will see the shots. John also later used the front shot to illustrate photo sharpening. I love your car! Fred p.s.: If you pm me your e-mail address, I'll send you some more recent shots of both the Dinos. f

Well...my car was also there...and most were show quality...I did not
win anything this time, but I was the only one who participated in the rally the day before.
Mine was the red and tan gts with the daytona seats (and some road dirt)

California seems thge most obvious choice ? It's car-harsh enough "collecting" in Wisconsin without being punished for living far away from a hub of Auto-exotica! I'm mostly kidding but not totally.

How about an unlikely middle ground such as Wisconsin? OK How about Nevada?
