Just saw the re-run (haha) on the Today Show where two brothers got a horn in the butt. I know this is a macho thing to do, but would you run in this event? Not sure I'd want an extra orafice:D

I also do not understand why someone would willingly jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

I have a second-hand chance acquaintance (a 20 something new successful investment banker) who was paralyzed from the neck down some years back from participating in this stupid and meaningless event.

I enjoy an adrenaline rush as much as anyone. But, NO... I would NOT participate in that event. I'm not much of a "crowd" guy, anyway. So, you've got hundreds (thousands?) of idiots to contend with, and then there's the pissed-off bulls. Ummm.... naaaaaa... I'll take a pass.

Maybe this event should be renamed to 'The runing of the idiots'!

I would do it in a second. For about a second and then I would jump on the fence.

Undoubtedly though, I would write on f-chat that I completed the whole run into the stadium.

I might give it a whirl. I'd want to research it a bit and get the low down on a few tricks of the trade. ;)

go down to the street where the corral is. it's a narrow road with a small sidewalk and steep walls. it looks dangerous but actually it's the safest section next to the plaza just before the stadium. very few runners gather there. when the gates open into the corral the steers usually come out first with the bulls following. if you can get next to the gates mores the better. all the confusion and noise distracts the animals as they run up the hill past you. it's like 10 seconds and they're past you. then you can just jog along behind at a safe distance to the ring. the biggest danger is if a bull gets separated from the pack. if that happens run away.. fast. never touch the animals with your hand. if you do the drovers will hit you with a long pole that has a weight on the end. you may try to tap the animals with a copy of that days newspaper. don't make yourself a target. wear white shirt and pants with a red sash. you want to blend in with the crowd. wear a cup.most importantly if you fall stay down do not get up until every one is gone by. the festival goes for nine days. watch the first and second day. the steers are the same every day, they only change the bulls. try to observe the steers. they usually behave the same every day. the biggest danger is the people in front of you. if they stumble they will take you down with them. good luck. going to confession and communion isn't a bad idea either. saint germain may be watching. after the run take a shower and go to sleep. you won't believe how well you will sleep.

If you jump over the fence, you run a real risk of being beaten up by the spectators and thrown BACK out onto the run.

    been there, done that.
Bulls are the last thing you worry about. Ignorant, drunk spectators are the the most dangerous animal around. Great experience!!

friends have done it and said it is the worst holiday they have ever been on. The locals are an absolute bunch of ill-mannered b4stards and noisy as hell. He came back and said they should all be shot!

My brother did it back in his college days to impress his Spanish girlfriend.

Guess it worked - they've been married for 15 years.

No way I would do it - and I've been shot at!

It's on my To Do list before I die. I need to do it in the next year or two because after a shattered pelvis, numerous broken bones, I'm not as fast as I used to be and I'm not going to wait until I'm even slower.

All you have to do is read The Sun Also Rises and you'll never get through life without making it something that you need to experience.

I did it when I was 26, that was many moons ago. The closest I get to it now is a steak sandwich.

I would try it once, in fact, I thought I saw Wes mention it in the SA Spotters thread....Seems like it would be one of those been there/done that things.

I would definitely try it, I used to love getting into trouble on Halloween and running from somebody's dog or them personally....brings a great rush without the side affects of drugs. lol
