Have you guys been inundated with this garbage for the past two years or am I just special?

It seems like every month I get a new promotional piece in the mail from either Porsche or the local dealer. The most recent was on Monday when I opened my PO Box to get my mail and saw a notice to pick up a package from Porsche at the counter. As i didn't order anything, I thought it might be my "white whale" - the 6 CD's that were stuck in the broken changer when the dealer removed it & sent it back to Porsche...in 2003. No such luck.

Anyway, this time Porsche sent an elaborate "color configurator" for the Panamera. It has a transparency of the vehicle which you insert different colored cards into for the body & interior - kind of like a Mad Libs. With all of the money they've put into promoting the PanAm I assume they really need this car to be a success. Unfortunately, the more I see of it the more I dislike it, and I was repulsed by it from the beginning.

I hope this is the last piece of crap sent to me regarding the Pan Am. Hey Porsche, if you want to sell some cars & generate excitement send out a promotional piece saying you're going to stick a GT3 RS motor in a Cayman...

I got the initial launch materials, 2-3 mailings, but not the color configurator.

Frankly I'm glad VW is pulling the plug on it after the current model run is done.

And I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing Porsche spend more money on sports cars.

+1. I hope they get rid of all the superfluous models and focus on driver's cars from now on.

That was a nice (usable) giveaway. I'd be curious to know the $ amount spent on the different mailings over the past couple years. I almost feel guilty for throwing away all of their marketing materials because the quality is so high.

I take it back: got my huge box in the mail today. This is the most elaborate launch package I've ever received for a car I would never buy.

I got mine today. Cool. Hell, I might even take one for a test drive, even though I'm not in the market for a six-figure luxury sedan. But if I was, I'd at least look at the car versus an AMG.

Hey guys, my neighbor is a Porsche Executive, and he had a Panamera 4S over and I have to say the thing accelerates and handles incredibly. In fact, I would even consider one just because of the performance and room. In certain colors it looks better than the photos, especially equipped with the right wheels. The interior is terrific and the 7 Speed PDK is a great Gearbox, too bad it doesn't have Paddles though. My wife who has a Jaguar XF really likes this car and wants me to replace her car with it.

All of the slamming of the Panamera reminds me of when the same was done prior to the release of the Cayenne. Cayenne sales have been a money maker for Porsche. Once word gets out how well the Panamera drives along with the room it has I think it will do the same.

What competition is in the same market? The MB CLS, the Maserati Quatroporte?

Did I miss something here - Panamera is gone after current model?

True, but neither one of these causes your eyes to bleed when you look at them.

I got one of the color configurators today. It's kinda cool but the car looks horrible IMO.
I like the idea I just wish it were a ferrari or some other car I would like to look at. Then I could have a diffrent color car on my desk all the time.

The thumb drive is cool. My son has already confiscated it.

Thumb drive today....one of the cars in two years. Sigh.

There was an article in the current Car and Driver (?) or Automobile that said this. It was too late to pull the plug on the Panamera, but in the long term it overlaps too much with Audi. The article said they might "give it" to Lamborghini for the future Estoque sedan.

I'd be happy to see it go. Porsche has gone from being a low volume maker of true sports cars to a sort of BMW/Merc competitor.

SPEED aired a Panamera "Test Drive" with Tommy Kendall last night. No doubt its a solid car, unfortunately the more I see of it the worse it looks - that rear end is nothing short of hideous.

If you wish Porsche would scrap these ill-conceived projects and go back to their roots...keep wishing. Read this http://www.pistonheads.com/porsche/default.asp?storyId=20689

Get yourself a 993 while you still can!

I don' t think it is a bad thing, as long as they keep their sports cars on the cutting edge as they have done with 911 and Boxster/Cayman.

I'm unloved. Never got a thing. I do thing they need a dash/sunvisor disclaimer "May induce vomiting". Brother in law has deposit on one. He has pre-facelift Cayenne Turbo S. New 128. 45k miles, spotless. They offered him 35k on trade. Panamera will depreciate faster, I suspect.
I'm thinking Pacer Sport Brougham S. Makes Bangle stuff look handsome.

I would guess the Pan Am, will give the late model Maseratis a run for the money, when it comes to depreciation.

I could get excited about a production Bluesport. Granted, it probably should be a VW rather than a Porsche. But, then again, I have a fondness for 914s and 924s. And, who knows, they might do something good with the platform.

(Like much in life, the idea could be good; the execution will make or break it)
