Pantera is one of the best looking cars of all time.. this is a nice interpretation. Id buy one ( though I think the headlights still need some work)

  4. I think it looks GREAT! Put me on the list for this one.

The design looks fantastic, even though I'm definitely not a fan of the current retro design trend.
Pity he spelt the name wrong. Takes the edge off an otherwise very professional looking job.

As he has no association with De Tomaso, he had to spell the name differently, it is an independent design on a future Pantera. Unfortunately a future Pantera is a very unlikely proposition. Have a look at this link which was filmed this summer.

    Understand, thanks Steve.
    Who owns De Tomaso now?
I know the Qvale Mangusta had some connection to the MG Rover SVR before both dissapeared, but I think that may have only been a distribution deal in the USA.

    Any ideas?

I believe that was the time MG took over the distribution arm with plans to use it to sell their products in the USA along side the Qvale Mangusta. Again, I'm not 100% sure.

I think the concept looks great. In the sense that it is a step in the right direction. A Pantera should always look like a Pantera. People might call that trying to look retro. I disagree. No one says that about the Porsche 911, a car that has pretty much looked the same, for what, 40 years now? A classic design can evolve, and still retain the same feel. That's what a Pantera should do, and that's what this above rendering captures.

Thats how I feel about the retro designs...I think a car with heritage that keeps familiar styling elements is not retro.

Id like to see more of this from carmakers such as Jaguar, Lambo, Ferrari and especially BMW who at one time had some of the best looking cars on the road.

I feel the same way, this design is a modern take on the Pantera, up to date yet preserving many of the visual aspects of what is a beautiful car. So many modern car designs have lost their makers identity, just look at what Porsche has done with the new Panamera, and BMW with the 6 and 7 series, I could go on and on. Ford were right to replicate the original when building the GT, why not recreate great designs?

I agree that the retro design is great. I remember the original show car that went around back in '98 or so, of the concept for the current generation 305-Z. It was a cool modernized version of the original 240-Z (I think it was orange). I was set to buy one until I saw what they ended up building (psudo-Audi TT wanna-be looking thingy). A shame. Anyone know what happened to the car that I'm talking about? Where it is now? The retro design makes sense because some of the original designs they come out with nowadays seem to be saying "we know this looks horrible, but it hasn't been done yet, so here...buy it". Kinda like fashion design in clothing. There is a reason some designs haven't been tried yet...they are horrible.

I would love to see an updated BMW M1 design (not that the original is still not fresh looking, but a better engine, more modern interior...?) This has got to be the pinacle of beauty that EVER came out of BMW. The sedans are "O.K.", but that early '80's M1.....mmmmmmm! It's also sorry to say, but the newer BMW sedans are starting to look alot like Pontiacs....wrong direction guys. My fiance'...(BIG BMW fan) says she is p.o.'ed that she now has to find another car maker to fall for as she won't buy a "Pontiac-looking" BMW....

I think that it is a great updating. The only problem is in pictures with the dark red and the green versions, it looks like there is a dent in the fender right above the top left spoke of the wheel. Maybe its just the colors, because it doesn't appear that as bad on the silver version.

I think it looks great. The boy obviously has talent as a young designer.
The headlights remind me of Chris Stratham's old blue Pantera beofre they got restyled with the more curvy openings.

Looks pretty good. And I might be off, but didn't somebody build what was supposed to be the "new" Pantera many years ago? I believe it was gray, and the pictures were at a Pantera Car Show....

LLover, you might be thinking of this prototype from the late 1990's, that was thankfully never built. Just a big silver egg to me.

Judging by recent alleged events concerning De Tomaso Automobili and Santiago De tomaso, we would have to build it ourselves!!!
