This has been discussed on the DeTomaso forum in the past. It is rare indeed but I believe the wheel offsets are wrong... those wheels need to go anyway.IMO I do absolutely love Panteras though and this is a nice examble of one.

I believe that is an early 1960s Bentley Continental S2 Park Ward Drophead. Very nice car.

BTW: the Panteras shown on this thread so far all look rather butchered up. The original design by Tjaarda is excellent. Why ruin it...?

Unbutchered Panteras do exist, but there isn't as much to say about them.
The "personalized" ones are more unique.

Mine is original except for the 17" wheels, pretty much necessary because you can't get decent tires in the proper sizes for the 15's anymore.

Very nice car! I think it would look even better with other, a bit less flashy, wheels.

What are the options if one wants 1970s period look, but also modern tyres?

    Cheers,
    Gabriel

Pirelli offered to make a run of Countach/wide body Pantera tires not too long ago. You guys should try them and see if they have anything for the first gen cars. Michellin pilots are out there if you can find them, I scored a matching set for my non-Pantera car that had similar dimensions.

Called the dealership a week ago to inquire about this car. All the salesman could tell me is what was on the add. Said he would get back with me. Haven't heard anything so I called back today. Says he doesn't have any records. They are locked in someone's office and he cannot get to them!! Things went downhill from there.

Good aggressive tires are mostly available for 17" wheels. I have 255x60x15 on my Merak. The OD is correct, but on a 15" wheel it looks like it belongs on a van not on an Italian exotic.

    Ciao,

Pirelli does run off some 15" P7's that fit the REAR every 5-7 years or so for like $500 each. But they don't make them to fit the front, so you have to have non-matching tires. And unless you happen to need tires when they run them off, by the time you would buy them they are nearly expired by date.

17" tires give better handling and are readily available locally at much lower prices.

there are 17" and 18" aluminum wheels made that look like the original Campagnolos.
You could get those and then have them painted silver to minimize the bling factor.

To most modern eyes the original Campys look a bit plain.

Here's a shot with the original Campys and Pirelli P7s. I still have those wheels and tires but would not drive it with them on-- the tires lock up under even moderate braking.
