Just watched your 308 vid :D Sounds very very tuff. But whats with the dyno up there? To make it transportable i guess. Ive never seen one like that? Is that so when the hold down straps break, you can launch off the end of the trailer Dukes Of Hazzard style? :p

Exactly, but it's a safety feature. Normally when the straps break you launch into the cement wall of the shop causing massive damage to your baby. With this design, your car is lauched clear of the building, allowing a smooth , free of damage landing. Just like in the Dukes of Harzard. :)

Actuallly you got it right the first time. The guy who owner it throught putting it on a trailer would be a good idea so he could bring it to swap meets, car shows and such. I don't think it worked out for him though, I heard the dyno was for sale or sold a few years ago. It turns out the people that bring there cars to car shows are way more interested in how it looks than how it runs, the guys at the drag strip are there to drag race, not tune, and swap meet guys don't have there cars with them. Plus it was scary putting the car up there and a bit hard on the clutch.

Just FYI, Dyno Dynamics dynos often put out very modest numbers. If you run on a different brand of dyno, you will likely see more. However this is only a concern if you're a bench racer and want to brag to your buddies. Dyno Dynamics dynos are some of the best for tuning and comparing one run to another, which is what dynos are really for, after all. I had my Chevy V8 powered 240Z dyno'd on a Dyno Dynamics and it put out numbers that I was a little dissappointed with, but it was instrumental in getting the fuel and ignition set up properly and 'the proof is in the pudding' as they say. The car runs great and pulls hard so I could care less about how big the numbers are.

They are the best according to my Dyno mate. He said they are really modest also. He is a wizzard at tuning cars on there. He has just finished building a twin turbo 3 Litre Nissan engine, thats in a R33 GTST Skyline. The owner(a friend of mine)has invested AU$30K in parts and around AU$15K labour. The car has made 280KW(375HP) at the rear wheels at 10PSI with a basic tune and rev limit set to 3000RPM. After they run the engine in up to 3000km, then they will tune it 30PSI and try and get 500KW(670HP) at the wheels at 8000RPM. Screaming its head off. :D

When I get my XOST exhaust in the next week or two, I will run my 348 on the Dyno and do "before and after" comparisons. Stock vs XOST. I made a genuine 9HP with no exhaust, so will interesting to see how this OXST performs. :)

Wrong. I have a 288 GTO and an F40 and the exhaust note is even better than my 348 GTC race car with straight pipes. I have Tubi on the F40 and megaphones on the 288 GTO

Well well well............what do we have here. :D:D
Delivered today. My brother picked it up for me. Very happy with the speed of delivery. The finish is spot on and it looks fantastic. :)
One problem............I didnt get the 2 gaskets. :(

The only reason I posted this in here, is because I want to do before and after dyno runs to see how many HP at the wheels this XOST has given me (and the 348 brotherhood),......if any. :p I will make a call tomorrow and see if I can get in this Saturday to get the XOST on and ramp the 348 up! :D I cant wait. I have 3 days left at work and Im looking forward to bolting this bad boy on and having some fun cruising around. :)
THANKYOU VERY MUCH Daniel for looking after me. You rock!! :D

Although you had a horsepower increase on the second run, usually with opening the exhaust you get a loss of torque. Just curious if you had the torque readings.

    Bad news........
MY dyno mate has 2 weeks off from work. So...........I can put the XOST on Saturday and forget about the dyno runs. Or.......wait around 2 weeks and put it on the dyno and see how many HP we get. :)
    Decisions.......decisions............:p:p

Well.........I have 2 more shifts to go, then days off. So may put it on Saturday anyways. But I would love to get some dyno data. See what happens. :)

Good to hear Luca loves the pressies. Something different as least. Or do they sell that stuff there do they? :)

i know this is a pretty old thread but i was doing a search on the same issue.....i want to try and see how it is without the muffler..... ie with just straight pipes....

PAP & to the others who have tried this:

1)why did u revert back to getting the muffler reinstalled later?
2)was it too loud? (i hope so!)
3)any backpressure issues? lost of torque?
    4)did it spit fire?!! lol

ps: i'm currently running on stock exhaust with straight cats.....just wanted to try a quick mod without resorting yet to other after market exhaust systems......

With straight pipes its really loud, Im running after market cats with a tubi and its still loud and i cant hear in my right ear. I get that look from some of the old fogies in the neighborhood now and then. Im thinking about putting the stock single can muffler back on with the after market cats. Maybe im turning into one of those old fogies. :)
