Hey everyone... I just got back from Paris and wow I had such a great time. It was my first real time in Europe and its truly amazing. Everything was so grand and classy. I got to see some beautiful artwork at some of the well known museums and some cool sections in the wonderful city of Paris. Since we don't speak very good French we had asked probably around 20 people for directions and just about everyone was extremely helpful and would even tell you to follow them because they were going in that direction. From what I hear the french people are not so kind but I certainly didn't see that at all. Whenever I saw an beautiful exotic car I took a picture and couldn't wait to finally post them when I got home. I hope you guys enjoy and NO I did not see any riots. Andrew M. you live in a great place!

Evan - Is that the Ferrari shop on Avenue Kleber?? I was in Paris last July, and stopped by that shop. And I also saw a black Gallardo, like the one in your pics (possibly the same G??!!). Also saw a red 512 TR (It sounded absolutely wicked in the tunnels!!!!!), and a 308.

Great Pics. I like no. 16 the most with the great architecture and that busy square. A lotus store, thats funny. I had a different experience with parisians but the city is probably the most beautiful i have seen.

Nice photos. Your experience in asking directions matches mine with the exception that I had with a TGV ticket clerk at Gare du Nord who responded to my "Parlez-vous anglais?" with a curt "Parlez-vous francais?". I was happy to speak in French but we were late in getting there for the train to Geneva and I figured that things would move more quickly in English. I was able to conduct the transaction in my rusty French until the point where she wanted to tell me that it was too close to departure time to assign seats and that I had to see the conductor on the platform. When I just wasn't getting this after about 3 tries she told me what I needed to know in excellent English. Mon dieux!

Did you go into the cafe Les Deux Magots shown in one of your pictures? One of the classic cafes in St. Germain, frequented by Hemingway (weren't they all, especially the bars?) and one of the triad of places in that area, along with Brasserie Lipp and Cafe de Flore.

I've been to Paris a couple of times and spent another 3 weeks touring the wine areas of the Loire, Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Provence/Rhone and then up to Burgundy and have always marvelled at the food, the wine and the generally relaxed nature of being in France. I even had a very nice dinner at Olivier Gendebien's house, which was (is) an inn and restaurant.

Looks like you had a lot of fun Evan. Paris is quite an amazing place. I was there a few years back and had an unbelievable summer there. As for cars, you can see everything, especially in front of the "George V" hotel. Next time try London. If you thought Paris had nice cars, you will be shocked there. Hope you had a great trip!!

Yes that Ferrari dealer is on Rue de Kleber. What did you think of the shop? I didn't go inside but all I was able to see that there was one car in the showroom and that being a 575.

Thanks for everyone's compliments on the photos. The Renault F1 Car was in a place on the main avenue and was called "Renault History" There was a lot of the well known F1 Cars to last years to years before. You were able to get really close but I went at 11:00 at night... The place closed at around 12:00 midnight I think. Its crazy how late some of these places close.

I did go to the Louvre and unfortunately only spent around 2.5 hours there. It was way too overwelming and not the biggest art guy ;-( But overall the place is a masterpiece and Versailles was even more incredible.

I thought there were going to be upclose and personal shots of Miss. Hilton.

Instead I see pictures of cobblestone streets and european cars?!?!

Just kidding around, man. Those are some beautiful pictures. The ones WITHOUT the cars are the best shots of the bunch. Like the Eiffel Tower and Arc de triumphe (my spelling is probably off. havent been in a French class for 18 years.)

    Evan,
What days were you in Paris?
I think my wife and I were visiting during the same time as yourself (5-12). Fantastic weather and, thankfully, no riots.
Any driving while you were in the city?

I agree with the comment about exotics and the "George V". We stayed in Hotel Tremoille across the street and I, literally, saw a different Ferrari out in front of the building every evening we came home.

I don't have all the car pics with me, but I attached a few down below.

    Best,
    John

hey there .... I was in Paris from the 6-11 (five full days) So we were in Paris at the same time! The weather was perfect and not a spec of rain. I saw a lot of more exotics but I couldn't catch everyone. It was crazy.

You take amazing pictures! I hope you enjoyed your time there

I think the yellow car is a bit far from home. 06 is the Cote d'Azur IIRC.

What a coincidence! I stayed at the Hotel de la Tremoille on my first trip to Paris many, many moons ago! I think that I still have an ashtray that I uh, "borrowed" from there.

Of all the hotels in all the towns, you had to walk into that one!

Nice place, but they sure were pricey. I think the rack rate on the room we got was somewhere north of $600 a night!!

At that price, I think you can borrow as many ashtray's as you'd like!
    Best,
    John
PS Did you have the opportunity to drive in the city? I wasn't able to manage a Lelouch "Rendezvous" run... but I did have a blast doing circles around the Arc de Triomphe.

I didn't drive that trip and I was glad that my stay de la Tremoille was a business trip. When we went back on our own dime we stayed at a much more reasonable place in St. Germain.

I wouldn't bother renting a car if I was going to spend most of my time in Paris. Between the taxis, walking and the excellent Metro it just isn't worth the hassle to me.

We did rent a turbo-diesel Alfa Romeo (very nice car btw!) on another trip where we covered a lot of territory outside of Paris. The only driving in Paris was in and out of the airport and the traffic was so heavy there was not going to be any Rendezvous runs! Diesel fuel was half the price of gasoline then and the mileage was good too.
