Sounds like the parking light switch failed. When it failed on mine, had the same symptoms. Park lights, tail lights (no license plate light) stayed on. I had to unplug the parking light switch to turn off the lights until I replaced the switch.

It's not clear if it's not "finger trouble" at this point. Yes, it could be a switch or a relay:

    (EDIT: Relay AR10 or AR9)

Normally, if the Park Switch is ON (or internally shorted) and the stalk light switch is off, the [P<] symbol should be illuminated on the dash.

Wiring diagram here, but it's a bit hard to follow. The yellow wires are hard to see:

If it was a stuck relay you would have front right and rear left side lights on- or front left and rear right. The relays do diagonally opposite lights. But you have both tails and a front side- back to the switching

Are you sure, Mike? I think a single relay provides power to all lights (Park button relay or stalk switch relay). It's the fuses attached to the outputs of the relays which splits the lights into diagonal pairs.

You might be right, i know opposites is involved some way.
Relays AR9+10 then. Looks like AR 11+12 are same relays for a temporary swap

Odds are the switch was just turned on. 550 owners have the same problem.
