    Hi Guys,

I got my car back this weekend and have noticed that the parking brake is just about useless. How do I adjust it?

    Thanks,

    Manny

    Manny,
its fairly straight forward to do.
look under the car just forward of the exhaust box. The handbrake cable pull splits to left and right rear brake by a rather clumsy looking lever system. As the cables leave the levers, each has a looking nut and a couple of inches of thread to allow for adjustment. The workshop manual section 8 page 133 explains exactly what to do. Attached are a couple of photos to show what to look for.

DKJ has given you some great advice.
Should that not be enough then you need to reduce the distance of the brake show from the rotor by turning the pad proximity adjuster on the exterior of each caliper. Use a feeler gauge and set to 6/1000's of an inch.
BTW, the Dino parking brake uses an internal mechanism within the standard caliper to activate the parking brake.

    Thanks guys,

I was under the car this weekend and noticed that my hand brake is doing absolutely nothing. The cable and linkage does not move at all. So I'm assuming it's at the base of the handle. I had to address another emergency and have not gotten to checking this out yet. I also had a no starter issue on Friday. I've checked past threads and will follow some of the recommendations there.

    Thanks again,

    Manny

    Manny,

Did you get your parking brake issue sorted out? I had adjustment issues on mine when I first got it and might be able to help you out if you want. Meanwhile, it was great meeting you on PCH yesterday (I was driving my old Alfa). That's a gorgeous car you have! PM me when you have some time.

    See ya,
    Dave

    Dave,

Thanks for the offer on the parking brake. It ended up being a bent bracket. It's all been sorted out now. PM sent.

    Manny
