My husband bought us this 1992 Mondial T a few months ago. We looked all over and waited to find a clean one. This spring we took it to the Ferrari dealer for some minor parts and the interior to be dyed. It was there for two months and we finally got it back. Now it is the time to drive it in the northeast. The problem we are having is that the parking brake will not go down. It is sometimes hard to shift into 1st gear. I will attach pics but they are older pics not after the seats were done. I will update with new pics later.

    Welcome!

I have a 1989 T (mine also black). It sounds like you have 2 issues:

    1. Parking brake doesn't release properly - The motion to release is press the button, pull up slightly and then push down. If that doesn't work, the tension spring or cable may be out of adjustment. If an engine out service was performed recently, these parts would have been disconnected and reconnected when the engine was put back. The tension spring and horseshoe (where the cable splits) are under the car just in front of the driver's side rear wheel. They need to be taught (but not tight) when the parking brake is released. It is pretty easy to do if you can get yourself a little under the car. It is super-simple on a lift.

    2. Hard to shift into first gear - This has not been an issue for me (it is usually 2nd that causes problems). My 2nd gear problem was made dramatically better by switching gearbox oil. However based on your issue above, I would make sure that the clutch line gets bled as a first check.

I'm just guessing here, but bleeding the clutch line and adjusting the parking brake are two of the final steps in an engine out service. Perhaps someone finished a bit hastily when the last one was performed on your new car.

Good luck with it, and enjoy the new Mondial T!!!

Thanks so much for your reply. My husband says it was second gear not the first that we have a hard time with. He will go under the car to adjust the brake.

Thanks!! I will send more pics..

Second gear stiffness when cold is normal. It is documented that many of these cars did it when new. Many skip second gear until warm as I do. Part of the charm. The engines have such broad wonderful power that going to third until warm is not a hardship

Beautiful car. Mine is the same color combo in the 3.2 version.

Congratulations!! As others said, 2nd gear stiffness is normal. Just skip until oil is warmed up (about 5-10 min)

Shift straight from 1st to third, not sure why 1st gear would be tough to engage, should be very easy, same with parking brake. I think parking brake should be an easy adjustment.

    Congratulations again
