new to the F1 cars......when you guys shut the car down to park, do you shut it down in neutral and use the emergency brake or do you shut it down in gear?

I put mine in neutral and use the brake. I think it goes back to N when you start even if you leave it in gear. I'm not positive though.

Either way is satisfactory. Certainly use the parking brake. In the garage if it is going to be parked or stored for a while I block a wheel and do not use the parking brake

I always put it in neutral just in case you decide you want to blip the throttle you don't want to go forward!!!

Correct, it shifts to N before starting. I park in N in the garage. I park in gear when out BUT I first put it in N, set the e-brake, release the regular brakes so it sits on the e-brake, THEN shift to 1st. This give me the advantage of parking in gear but keeps it from having a load on the transmission, making it difficult to shift to N when I want to start again.

I treat it the same as my manuals - I leave them in gear when I park them and pull the ebrake if there is any incline. At the track I leave it in gear with no ebrake between sessions.

You should be able to shut it down in reverse without issue. That sounds like some kind of software bug or perhaps unrelated. I know one guy had the reverse button go bad and cause a malfunction. Hopefully just an anomaly.

I almost always leave it in 1st gear when parking. When leaving it in Neutral, the car beeps as you turn it off which leads me to believe it wants to be in gear.

I hate that neutral beeping sound so I put mine in first without the e-brake when in the garage and with the e-brake elsewhere. Particularly when parking in the garage if it's at all damp as the e-brake pads stick and cause an awful noise when reversing.

I don't have an owners manual for the car, does the booklet say how to shut it down when parking? in or out of gear? Just wondering what FERRARI says to be the proper way.

I leave mine in neutral. If, for some reason, there is some kind of electrical problem and there isn't any power, then the car will remain in gear and it'll be harder to move around and get onto a flat bed tow truck. Yes, it beeps at me when I leave it that way, but it's a good way to avoid an extra problem in the event of, well, a problem. So, N for me.

Turning off the engine and deactivating the system
The engine can be switched off either with the
gearshift in N or a gear engaged.
After turning the ignition key from position II
to position 0, the display will remain on for a
few more seconds to display the gear engaged.
If the gearshift is in N, a buzzer will sound.
    Warning 1
Do not start the vehicle before the display
    has turned off.
Never leave the vehicle with the gearshift
in N, but engage a gear (1st or R), making
sure that the display does not flash and
always engage the parking brake. Never
leave the vehicle with the engine running.
Never remove the key when the vehicle is
moving! The system and the display will
    remain active, but malfunctioning, until
the vehicle is stopped. In addition, the
steering wheel will lock automatically with
the first turn of the steering wheel.
In this case, the failure warning light will
come on (see page 63) and, before starting
off again, the system and the display must
be turned off and the “Starting” procedure
    repeated.
In any event, it is advisable to:
    • Switch off the engine and the system holding
    the brake pedal down.
    • Do not request a gearshift while the system
    is switching off.

+1. An annoying alarm sounds reminding you to park in gear. So I always park in 1st w/ emergency brake on.

A good idea. An unexpected failure of either the battery or F1 system renders the car difficult to move.

Also when trailering the car, it should always be in Neutral.
