Going to Ceasars you can valet at the Forum Shops for free. I want to say they close at 11pm or something like that so if your staying out late it won't work for you.

I've also resorted to using Uber now since everyone started charging for parking.

It's not always easy though one night exiting MGM when a concert was getting out it took over an hour to get a car. The Uber pick up at MGM is a mess. In hindsight I should have canceled my car and just walked over to the Tropicana and ordered a car there.

The best part of Uber for me is not having to worry about my alcohol consumption as well as not having to catch a taxi with some angry driver intent on long hauling me and then having to have the akward conversation with them about it.

If you fly into McCarron take an Uber the cabs will always long haul you.

yah I always tell the cabbies I'm a local as soon as I get in. Luckily my HOA has a free stretch limo service to and from the airport. :)

This Uber thing is interesting. Driving on the strip is a mess sometimes. I could jump on the monorail also.

Add to that the daily resort fee up to $39 a day in winter.. Half your hotel bill at checkout will be just for added fee's.

Ton's of C.C. offer great deal's without even using a casino club card. . FHR with Amex, or the Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection are a couple . For example I stayed at Bellagio for $99 a night . Got $100 food and beverage credit. Breakfast daily for two up to $30 each. Room upgrade, early and late checkout . I basically stayed the night for free. :)

I was completely dumbfounded and just walked away, but if I run into that sort of thing again I'll definitely report it. I used to get comp + resort credit offers every month from Aria but ever since I lit them up on the survey I haven't received a single offer from them. Not sure if those are related or not, but either way I need to find a new spot. My understanding is that the next item on the chopping block for BJ is the ability to surrender.

If I might enquire, which credit card got you those benefits at Bellagio? I think Bellagio is part of the M Life program.

Not sure if I said it right. Yes you would need to have an Amex Platinum card to receive the benefits of the Fine Hotel's and Resorts. Any hotel booked on that site comes with the two free breakfast, Early check in, Late check out and room upgrade. Then they also offer a special perk depending on the hotel. Some give the $100 towards spa services only. Bellagio and the Delano give the $100 towards a property credit. The Wynn just switched to spa services. Other cards like the Chase sapphire reserve use The Luxury Hotel & resort collection. So this time I used that for an upcoming trip to the Aria. I spent $118 total for the room. Besides all the upgrades, it also comes with the $60 breakfast for two and the $100 resort credit.. Hard to beat that . Have to utilize those annual fees on the credit cards and they really do come in handy .

I agree . Locals and hotel guest shouldn't have to pay for parking ...Love staying at Redrock . Great casino and hotel . Then wake up in the morning and head out for a great mountain hike .

I think we were just spoiled for decades on the parking. If I remember correctly anywhere I travel these days, there is always paid parking. Atlanta, New York, etc etc. I have yet to see a city building that doesn't charge parking fees anywhere in the US. I think Vegas was long overdue, we just need to adapt I suppose.

Just one point of info with AMEX Platinum. You have to book your reservation through them (AMEX travel). In my experience, their quoted rates are quite a bit higher than what you can get by booking direct. Upgrades are not guaranteed...they are on space available basis.

Spot on Keith about booking direct through FHR, or your booking on Orbitz or one other the other sites without any perks . As far as booking direct , yes of course different hotels have a bit higher prices . You just have to study a bit . Here is a test i just did . Booked a room for Aug 8th check out on the 9th .One day . ..Exact same price on all three .Fhr, Orbitz and direct Bellagio. ..So you have to admit room upgrade or not , the other $160 resort credit is pretty nice . Early and late checkout for me is a big plus . Also I booked on the Luxury and Hotel webiste for next week at the Aria as FHR was almost double the price .

Are we spoiled going to a Walmart and not having to pay to park there?

This is about revenue but more than the fees. It's about giving our a comp that used to free but they take it away first before they give it back. Its about to get more people to sign into their loyalty programs and stick with their establishments.

"Hey! They comped me free parking!"

If there's downturn, look for these fees to be the first to go to attract more business.

They will feel it soon enough. Believe me the parking, resort fees , charging for drinks in the Sports Book unless you play a min of $100 , is all adding up. Will just head to Palm Desert , sit by the pool and put my bet's online and never look back. Like I said before I really liked Red Rock last time. Way off the strip and a little piece and quiet in the canyons. Also like Lake Las Vegas. We will see soon if things change, I doubt it..

I was just comparing our situation to most big city hotels all over the US, seems to me they've all charged for parking for a long time. I think it was inevitable here too. I go to the strip on a daily basis and it's as busy as ever, wishful thinking parking fees will stop anytime soon. Now Walmart would be crazy to start charging in my opinion ;)

Red Rock is nice, but their rates are way too high in my opinion. More than Wynn or Bellagio. They don't need those parking fees yet ;)

When I was looking to book the wife and her friends a suite for a girls weekend staycation for the weekend of July 15th, Red Rock was MORE than Wynn, so I booked the Wynn. They had a great time and the wife actually won more than enough at the blackjack table to pay for their entire three-day weekend plus cabana rental, club, etc., so I was happy as well.

Wow, didn't know that . I guess I caught it on a down time . . You know I bet half of the tourism in Vegas don't even care about the parking fee as they probably fly in and take a cab or Uber ..

Yes I understand but Vegas, to me, is special. And other cites don't live off gambling.

Again, exactly my point. It's designed to hurt local patrons.

Good point. I forgot about that. I think the big winner here is Uber. Every other car on the strip has the Uber sticker on it, unreal.

Good point. At least we get to enjoy the other benefits it has to offer. Look at it as the glass half full. We have great weather, the best restaurants, entertainment, etc etc.

Sadly we are the minority here, us locals. At least there are 42 million visitors each year that come here and envy us ;)

Not a big player but it is horsesh*t like resort fees and parking fees that ensure our next Nevada vacation will be in Laughlin or Mesquite.
