My Cali T is mostly a weekend car. So she sleeps in the garage all week. Last Sunday I parked her with the top down. Then I was reminded of when I had my vintage Cadillac convertible and the upholstery guy told me to always park it with the top up. I know the Cali top is a completely different mechanism, but was wondering if there is any reason you should park it with the top up. I didn't see anything in the manual about this.

I've had my 458 Spider for eight years, always parked with the top down. No worries:

On the old cloth/vinyl tops, storing it down could cause shrinkage that would prevent the top from being put back up. A hard top does not have that problem.

That said, I store mine up, just to protect the interior from unexpected events.

I put the top up at least every few days so the hydraulics get exercised. I put the top up where tree sap or unwanted intruders should be discouraged. Top also goes up for rush hour traffic and the rare rain.
