Tonight I decided to upgrade my headlight parking lights from their outdated yellow look to a crisp blue look. It took all of 20 minutes and I worked quite slow. It was fun and I thought I would share my new upgrade. My 13 year old 360 now looks 10 years younger. I only ran into one problem, when this huge beetle flew into my garage and landed right where I was working. It is about as big as my hand and yes it fly's. It will make you run for your life and scream like a girl.

I found this DIY thread on another forum so I cannot take all the credit. Just wanted to share what I did to my 360 this evening.

I bought them on ebay for $5

I've done this myself recently with almost every bulb in the car. 2 things I would mention, the 360 does not use CAN bus and some of those bulbs tend to run very hot so monitor them or use an IR thermometer to test. Otherwise try to get regular LED. Additionally, it's ideal for the 194 or wedge type to use the PCB design (like the one linked in the auction) as opposed to the plastic ones with the bent wire terminals. The latter tend to break very easily with vibrations.

I would like to upgrade my headlight bulbs to match. Probably going to need 6000K. Do you have a source for those HID bulbs?

If you are to go this route, remember that you are compromising light output significantly.

I would suggest you get the cheapest 6k D2S HID bulb you can find on EBAY and get a few spares.

If you want to go for quality, you can purchase Phillips Ultinons which are 6k quality bulbs.

Now, I would seriously advice you not to buy those anywhere other than an authorized reseller. The market is saturated with counterfeit material and it's a disservice to phillips and your wallet to buy fake stuff. Ultinon should be somewhere around 100 for each bulb, any less and it's probably fake.

Kommons, thanks for the advice. I remember when I had my M3 I bought the phillips bulbs in 6k and the quality of the light was really good. If I decide to do this, I will post before and after pics. It is easy enough to just go back to stock if I don't like them.

You're welcome. I ordered Osram XenArc CBI 66240CBI for my 360 and I don't think it changed the color much. They are rated at 3200 lumens which is why I chose those. That being said, I think the 360 headlight has less than optimal optics which might be what causes more of the yellow to get out. I can take shots of mine after you get the ultinons to compare.

I might try using aftermarket optics in the headlight later on as well.
