    Hi Guys,

I have a leak from my left side driveshaft/gearbox output seal. I looked through the parts catalogs and could find that 2 types of seals were used for the left side, 141509 and 125076, depening if my differential side cover was 143448 or 131497, which in turn is dependent on whether my gearbox is a 139499/141685 up to Nr 542 or a 141685 from Nr 543. Sounds really confusing!

How do I tell if mine is up to Nr 542 or from Nr 543? And what is this number, where can it be found?

Wanted to put this seal together with my order for major service kit from Daniel at Ricambi America, but hesitated based on the accuracy of the seal number. In the end I didn't add it in. The Major kit needs to come first, as the car is going in for timing belt change soon.

So I need to put in this seal for my next order. Do i need to get the 139453 O.R. Gasket for the cover as well? What else do I need to stop an output shaft leak?

    Thanks for your advice!

Your gearbox number is stamped on the bottom of the box, near the oil drain (oilio cambio) plug.

With a 1990ts, you most likely have 125076 -- but a check look under your gearbox will confirm.

    Hi Daniel,

I looked under the car, and it reads:

    OLIO CAMBIO 2135099 141685 1049

OLIO CAMBIO 2135099 is raised in the casting, which means it was in the mould.

141685 was punched in neatly, looks like machine-punched. Looks like the gearbox number.

1049 looks hand-punched, not so neat.

Since 141685 is my gearbox number, it could still be either type of differential cover used, depending on the Nr, if it is before 542 or after 543. Do you think this Nr is the last number "1049"?

1049 is indeed an early box. What is the build month/year on your car?

Honestly, I'm not sure when it was manufactured. I only have the Chassis No., which is 86030.

Very early car. Mine is mid-year 1990, and is 86426.
