Oh man, I thought the defense would have been "we don't have the money to pay the fine".

I saw that yesterday on Lotus talk. I thought about using that next time I get pulled over. Then someone brought it to my attention that I am not the CEO of Lotus and probably couldn't get away with that one.....................

You could always go with the vague, but tried and true "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" approach. Cops love that one.

My friend and I were pulled over for speeding in his F430 and when the officer came over he asked why we we were speeding. I wanted to just tell him "it's a Ferrari."

I once got stopped doing 160mph on a country road in South Africa, amg merc. In those days the traffic cops were open minded.
In USA many many years ago 105 in 50, took a lot till that was resolved.

Great thing about lotus, there good on track right out the box, which is a preferable way to enjoy modern car performance in these less open minded times.

An acquaintance of mine tried that once. The officer was most interested to discover who he was - Chairman of the local Police Authority. At that point he threw the book at him, to take revenge for years of rather ungenerous pay settlements!:(
