Does anyone know of anyone parting out a GT4? I was putting the fuel filler neck rubber donut in and the plastic part behind there broke or was broke. I will post a pic later. I can not even find it in the part book........

    Dear Friends,

Here are some Pics. I found it in the 79 Parts book but not the 74 or 76. Can some of you later GT4 guys look in your fuel hole and see if it looks the same with the two screws and drain hole at the bottom. The main reason I am doing all this work is to reduce the fire hazard new hoses etc. I dont want to have a leak here!!!

I got a new doughnut and it seemed tighter than the original which was shot. I was careful but if I had to do this over I would have taken this piece out first......

Ted R says they have one in stock.......

    Robert,

Just went out to the garage to take a look at my '79, and it is identical to the picture(s) you posted - 2 screws, drain hole at the bottom. Happy to help!

    Yikes,

Im getting NLA!!!! my friend Brian says fix it. The whole reason I started doing this was to make the car less flammable. The way this is cracked, this is the only thing that holds the fuel filler neck. I am afraid I cannot fix this to make it structurally as strong or stroger any suggestions????

    It's plastic??

There are some 'hot welding' processes now that can melt it back together, a Body Shop has saved some underhood brackets in my Toyota that way...

Still, if you can find a new one (or used) that would be better!!

Check out the latest Hemmings Sportscar & Exotic - there's an article in there how to fix/repair broken plastic parts.

You could also make the same part pretty easily out of something soft like copper or aluminum of appropriate gauge - ball pien hammer and a wooden buck will work well. Paint it black and you're in business.

Check suppliers for old car parts, you might find something like a grommet for a steering column, etc.
