Hello, I've read cautions in several posts to watch out for parts becoming very expensive and/or hard-to-find/unobtainable for these and other newer ferraris in the future. How far away is this "future", do you think? I'm trying to figure out, if I bought one of these cars now, how long I might have it before these parts issues would create a problem to keep it running & driving? I have always thought this might be something of an "urban legend", but since reading several recent posts and articles which mention newer Ferrari parts which are unobtainable from Ferrari (360 engine cam lifters) or hard to find at all (fully functional 456 radios) I'm not so sure. Just curious what current 550/575 owners think about this. Also, are there already any hard-to-find/unobtainable parts for the 550/575 I should be aware of when looking at one of these cars to buy? Thanks! Michael Payne
I dont think you need to worry about it as much as with other car manufacturer's.. There will always be a sub-culture for these car's and a supply for demand items from aftermarket.. In comparisons, I own a 400i GT as well and there is lots of support and parts supplies still available for these models after so many years and a cache of parts cars for hard parts. The same will apply to the 550-575 down the road. Regards, Robert. Image Unavailable, Please Login
i agree with the guy above . i dont think there will be parts that are unobtainable .. yes the part will be very pricey and it will take some digging but through people like ferrparts and such you should be able to get what you need ..and of course there are guys like dave helms that come up with solutions for the factory defects .. i would just choose carefully when buying a car ... IMO they all have things that will break and parts that are junk but we work around them and manage to get by... but that is the fun in it ! Ian
