In the 308/328/Mondial F-Car series. Are there parts on these cars that are exactly used by other manufacturers that can be sourced at a lower cost?

I am sure that a seasoned mechanic or shop would have the ultimate knowledge of this and probably won't share the secrets to keep profits up.

Supposedly a lot of the interior parts, especially on the 328 and later Mondials, came from Fiat's parts bin. I think some parts are also shared with Alfa Romeos, and a lot of the Bosch parts are common to other European cars.

At one point, there was a cross reference list posted here (maybe on the old ferrarichat archives?). Will have to do a search to see if I can find it.

There is definately some parts sharing from the Fiat/Alfa parts bin, but also some stuff that matches to easier to find makes.

speaking strictly from a 308GT4 point of view, the GT4 ashtrays also cross over to the Lambo C/T, engine/rear trunk levers also, valve shims same in 308/fiat/volvo 242 series. Radiator fan switch same as the VW scirroco, CV joint boots same as C/T. There is probably alot more.

GT4 door handle ALMOST is the same as an FIAT X1/9 but the FIAT version lacks the outer chrome around the black plastic part of the door handle. Same GT4 door handle is on the lambo Jalpa and I believe the Silhouette and Uracco as well.

A parts cross reference SHOULD be a permanent thread on this site. I imagine because of sponsership it hasn't developed.

308's also share window switches with an Alfa Romeo Spider. 80-82 the cig lighter was the same as a X1/9

I made that suggestion to Rob about a year ago but nothing has been done yet. I guess he was busy with all the new software switching.

I don't think that's it. There was one in the special links that were trashed in the hard disk crash late last year.

I remember that link but I was not as good as it could have been. If it's plugged into the main menu thread in bold I bet it could develop bigger and better. Put subcatagories in for the different cars and let it just fill itself in.

Alright, here is what I have in mind (I just went back to look at the main page) Right now we have:

    Private Forums
    -subcatagories
    General Discussion
    -subcatagories
    Model Specific
    -subcatagories

Next is the regional forums, etc. We should put Model Specific Parts Cross Reference (or whatever) between Model Specific and the first Regional forum and subcatagorize similar to the model specific forum and let people just fill it in. I am sure a sticky disclaimer can be left in at the top just to cover that issue too.

Why would this be a bad idea?

You would think that there is a cross reference parts list that someone has assembled. However, it would be a very coveted item as it would then assist everyone in the parts field. So, for certain you will not easily find that.

In preparation of the formal introduction of our own Ferrari parts program at Concorso, we are attempting to catalog the Ferrari P/N's so that we do have our own cross reference guide. However, that list will remain in-house for obvious reasons.

Our parts will be both OEM as well as aftermarket, and we will be able to tell you which is which.

It is for certain that you will find our parts less expensive than what you will find presently available, and we will be able to cross reference parts to identify if there is a less expensive way to go for the item you are sourcing.

You will definitely notice a price difference from us, and we will be able to source items for you at equally competitive prices.

    More to follow.

Everybody keeps talking like this is some secret, regrettably I lost my link to the biggest 308 x-ref that I knew of, but it's out there. It might even be a reference topic in the "other" Ferrari discussion board. I'll bet there's even a link to it here in Fchat somewhere, probably in Classic.

Could you guys dig up some info for the 348. I have decided that this will be the model for me because of the smaller amount of electronic gadgets seen in the 355.
