Hello FChaters, Anyone ever see or have experience with adding a passenger display to a 458. Obviously the 458 did not come with one from Ferrari as an option and there is nothing available in the Ferrari aftersales/out of range book. I think they look cool and make it look more modern. But there are a few companies selling them online. They replace the carbon/metal trim bar over the glove box and look like OE in the pictures online. They also plug in with a Y harness directly behind the cluster(gauges) so there is no special wiring or anything. Another good thing is it adds Carplay/Android Auto/Bluetooth in addition for calls and music streaming. Let me know if anyone has any experience or opinions. It would be alot of work to install since you have to remove all the same dash panels as doing the sticky button repair to physically install the display and connect the wiring. https://legendsautoparts.com/products/ferrari-458-passenger-display-12-inch-carplay-android-auto-812-style?variant=46434012463363&country=US¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxmUW1mS6b9yQf0DG43nAHbw4f_SKin7QTJuH8USJkxFYNim2mEyVB4aAlliEALw_wcB Image Unavailable, Please Login
I saw that a while back, and at least for me... it looks really out of place on this car. The design lines don't mesh with it, and it feels like it's trying to shove a modern ferrari look into pininfarina design that didn't think a screen should go there.
You did ask for opinions.. I wouldn’t do it. I’m not a fan of mods in general but I wouldn’t do it because I have the passenger display on my 488 and it’s not a good thing for your wife/girlfriend be able to see how fast you are going. CarPlay is great, but will the driver really be able to use it when it’s all the way over there on the passenger side?
I thought about it for a minute and then realized I don’t have any passengers I like enough to spend the money on it and my wife doesn’t need to know how fast we are going. I have the other CarPlay module that puts the display into the right side cluster screen.
I think it would be better to add one of those modules mikey is talking about. But to be honest, I think the screen is too small. I am using an invery ipod adaptor to get bluetooth streaming of pods, music etc. The one thing I would like to use android auto for in the car is tour boss. Not sure if you guys have that in other countries but it is a rally type app with maps and tracking of cars etc. that all our runs use for navigation, and meeting up after 10 cars inevitably F(car) off into the distance or take the wrong turn. But tbh, it may be better to just stick a small cheap tablet on the dash or window for that. I just used my phone with a vent mount on my last rally and it worked fine and was larger than that little right oem screen.
Thanks for all the good opinions, that's what I was looking for. You can always count on FChat for alot of opinions, ideas & help. Thanks Frank
