Hi everyone I'm trying to get to my immobilizer under the passenger seat. Any advise as to how to remove the passenger seat? Thanks!

I removed the passenger seat in my 456 a few months ago and, while I don't remember the exact details, I do recall that the procedure was extremely easy.

Just remove the bolts that hold the seat tracks to the floor (2 bolts in the front and 2 in the back I think - very easy to see and reach) and - VERY IMPORTANT - as you start removing the seat, but before you pull it away too far, be sure to reach under and unplug the connector(s) from the unit(s) located under the seat bottom. Done.

One note of caution: the front seat in these cars are HEAVY! I wouldn't be surprised if each weighted in the neighborhood of 80 pounds. Really, these are ponderous beasts! Best if the removal is done together with a helper.

I seem to recall that I couldn't easily figure out how to detach the seat belt from the seat so I just left it attached. There was plenty of slack to remove the seat and set it next to the car with it in place.

To remove the front bolts: move the seat all the way back, then make sure to raise the front of the seat (electric). Otherwise you can't get a ratchet/allen wrench in there.

The seat belt is attached with a single bolt, easy to remove. There is a nice cover on the bolt head that needs to be removed first. But when I swapped out the immobilizer on my 550, I did what Mink did and left the seat belt attached. Set the seat to the side by the rear wheel.

There is a single connection to remove - it provides power to the switches. Be careful with the cable to the slider motor so it doesn't get snagged. It needs to be left loose to move as the slider moves.

Thank you all for the help! I got the seat out. Now the next task....how do I get to the immobilizer? I peeled up the carpet and see a black metal box. Any advice on how to open up the metal box to get to the immobilizer? Thank you again for any suggestions!

Thank you! This was helpful. How did you open the black box to get to the immobilizer? Thank you!
