PASSING OF A LEGEND

Was browsing back through the June issue of Classic and Sports Car and looking at a picture of one of the factory 250GTO's in the pits at Le Mans in '63 (p:164 - a wonderful tableau) and this time I see in the background Bob getting ready to service the car - one of his last gigs before starting at Lamborghini.

A roundabout with the name of Bob Wallace is going to be inaugurated this Sunday at 9:00 in Sta. Agata Bolognese.

 

that's the runabout where it happened last 21st April with old employes and Bob's brother & daugther travelling in Italy.

here is last message from organisator :

Dear Friends,

Here we are, all together again to remember our great Bob who left us two years ago. Bob is now back in the land of Lamborghini where he has always belonged. he is back among his colleagues and friends, because we will always be his friend.

We are saying a big Ciao to you, dear Bob, with all our love and with the roar of all your Lamborghinis that are here on earth!

P.S.: your greeting or message will be transmitted to Bob’s family because Bob for us will never die.

On Sunday 4th October the roundabout dedicated to Robert Bob Wallace was officially inaugurated. A number of colleagues and friends from different parts of the world attended and the ribbon was cut by Mayor Giuseppe Vicinelli. Representatives of the community of Sant’Agata Bolognese were there showing all their affection.

This was the birthday present made by the city of Lamborghini to the legendary test driver on his 77th anniversary.

Bob’s brother, Charlie Wallace, together with Bob’s family had been here in Sant’Agata Bolognese on 23rd March to plant Bob’s tree and spend a special moment together with Bob’s colleagues and friends, also coming from all over the world, while awaiting the permits for the official opening.

Paolo Stanzani remembered Bob as a technician and tester of the legendary cars bearing the logo of the fighting bull.

Bob now resides in the land that he loved so much, the land he has always belonged to: the land where the Legend of the fighting bull was born, thanks to his talent.

The early morning rain suddenly stopped, the sun was shining above and the day ended with a beautiful rainbow: it was Bob’s smile greeting all of us!

Here is a video of the dedication of Bob's roundabout in October 2015 and afterwards at the Museo Ferruccio Lamborghini. It was an emotional gathering with many familiar faces and Stanzani demonstrating his great affection for his old friend Guerra.
