Patek Philippe - the basics of building a great collection

This is by far my favorite release. I love the green dial. If I didn’t just get a 5270 last year I’d get this piece.

I used to have a 5905p that I sold but I asked my ad to get me a pic of the 5270p and the 5905 a with the steel bracelet side by side.

The 5270p looks to have a much brighter face, but it might be the computer generated graphics. If the face is the same on both, I might sell one of the aquanauts and get a 5905a. If the 5270p is indeed brighter green face- might have to look to getting this also. I really like the green face.

 

The green 5905 is a sunburst one, the green 5270 is lacquered, pretty dark in person, very beautiful!!

Jesus Christ! That is friggin gorgeous. I dont want two perpetual calendars. Might wait a few years and hopefully they add that dial to other models. Love it

My favorite of the new releases.

 

It’s a nice piece for sure but not interested in it. Good useful complication for sure but the green face is what I’m smitten by on the 5270P.

 

I can’t understand why they’d have the moon phase dial in blue?? White background for date, blue moon phase, green dial...

 

Just a thought, while your son is wearing a fake Patek , a thief will not know the difference. These watches are so very expensive today you may actually be putting your son in harms way. Just saying this could backfire with horrible consequences.

It happed to me once with a rose gold Hublot evolution. Not an experience I want to relive.

 

5270 for tonight. Just have to decide which strap to wear! I have a small fortune in straps and deployants! Lol

I can't stop thinking about the 5270p. Im in love with the green enamel dial. Would it be stupid for me to have the 5270j and the 5270p? I would probably sell a piece or two to clear up funds. The yellow gold can be my more formal piece. The 5270p, I can imagine getting some fun straps and giving it a more casual, daily wear look. Probably move my 5168 green aquanaut? Am I crazy to do this?

Ok it’s done. Spoke to my Ad. Ordered the 5270p. It’s nuts to have two perpetual calendars but what the hell! Gonna be selling some watch’s in the future probably.

Time to clear some inventory to make room. Watch is probably 12-18 months away so plenty of time to sell the pieces. As much as I would like to have an inventory of a dozen Pateks- I just won’t wear them.

oops- black dial- sorry missed that. If you have black dial- sky is the limit.

 

Get green, blue, red, yellow. I have a deployant clasp for every strap and not that you want or need to save the money, but you could just order a regular buckle in steel which is like $200 or so from Patek vs 4grand for the platinum deployant.

also with a platinum watch and black face- don’t be afraid to experiment. Get some suede straps, some rubber ones. That way you can dress down the watch. Just make sure you use platinum pins so as not to wear out the inside. It’s fun and exciting to freshen up the timepieces with new shoes.
