We were told of this by Thierry in Geneva. Brand new line of sport watches. New design etc. no clue what it is. They hinted at a 2022 release but so far nothing. Now I’m hearing it might be a Christmas Day release. Let’s see….
Btw- scrapped my 5172 order. Gonna get another perpetual. 5270p. Green dial. I’m a glutton for punishment.
So Obviously this didn’t happen over Christmas. My sources were wrong. Now the question begs- will they wait till March for the watches and Wonders show to release the new sports line or will it come sooner. I’m excited to see the new sports line and see what kind of watches they have to offer. However I’m very excited for the green 5270p. I think 2 perpetual calendars is overkill but when you have such a stunning piece on your hands, hard to wear something else. More higher end prices and less quantity is the motto for 2023. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
I e never been able to take good pics with my iPhone. Adjusted a few settings and got this. Much more clear than it’s ever been. Gonna play around today and grab some pics.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Compare to this picture before adjusting the settings: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah- hadn’t worn the watch in a bit and didn’t bother to set moon phase. Go to your camera settings and Change to High Efficiency and Apple Pro Raw. Let me know what you think. Also crop And zoom in a bit more.
Beautiful watch. I had the same watch and I regret selling it. It isn’t the rarest or the most valuable, but the 5970 is my favorite perpetual calendar chronograph out of 1518, 2499, 3970, 5004 (also a split second), 5970, 5270. For anyone interested, here is a great article on the history of the Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronographs. https://revolutionwatch.com/history-of-the-patek-philippe-perpetual-calendar-chronograph/
Very interesting. Based on your suggestion, I looked into Apple Pro Raw. I shoot a lot of photos which makes me reluctant to use Apple Pro Raw due to the huge image files it creates. It's probably best I stay away from it. I already shoot in "High Efficiency" (.HEIC) format since it is the default. I never realized that saving files as .JPG is an option. Thanks! Apparently .HEIC files are much more compact than .JPG files but their quality is the same. I value high quality images and I am blown away by the image quality from my Apple iPhone 13 Pro. I just returned from a few vacation weeks in Europe (Dublin, London, Paris) and didn't bother bringing any camera other than my phone. The AI processing of the iPhone is amazing. (Sorry for the distraction I've caused on the Patek thread.)
Overall beautiful but I find the blue moon phase dual clashes with the green. They should have done green IMHO.
I disagree. I think it does not clash whatsoever. It provides a complementary contrast color. Just my opinion, though. Andy
^^Thanks for the update @SoCal to az. Okay gents, time to rummage thru the collection to find which one you have.... Any news on the new models?
the only thing I know about new models is there is a whole new sports line coming. Other than that- no clue.
Interesting they're dropping those Pilot Travel Times since it's so new. Oh, just checked -- those are the smaller 37.5mm sizes only. The 42mm versions are still on then. Those are 2020 and 2018 models, I guess sales were stagnant.
The pilot is a conundrum. When it was first released (the 42mm version) it was widely panned. Most Patek enthusiasts did not like the watches. I loved them! In fact sold my 5980 nautilus and picked up the pilot. I loved the 42mm size. In hindsight a horrible trade financially speaking but the nautilus was just too small for me. Dont care, to date it remains one of my favorite pieces. When I went to Geneva for the Patek visit, we asked Thierry and the designer who draws every single new watch- what is their favorite. Both said the pilot was unique and they loved it. So not sure whats going to happen with the 42mm versions but the smaller ones I never was a fan of, cause for me they were just too small. I have the 5524G, bought it before the R came out. Today id swap for the R if I had to choose.
