On a lighter note. been to this restaurant Neptune a few times. "Ferrari, you can't afford it pal" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYSYEuRPR4Q
I have known quite a few cgt owners, they know the risks involved when driving a supercar. No need for an "expert" to drive the car though, like said above if you drive within your limits you should be ok. Most who can afford cgts are intelligent enough to understand the respect you need to give the car.
I think you would have a tough time finding someone who had something negative to say about him. I have the same impression, that he got along with everyone and he would chat with other car enthusiasts like he was just one of them. He was also a big family man and attributed much of that to his Mormon upbringing.
Reportedly he was in in the middle of filming F&F 7 so hopefully they have enough to finish the film and his role in it. Just like everyone else has seen he has been all over the entertainment shows with past interviews and I agree that he actually seemed very genuine and kind. I am with Jason in that I am rarely bummed when a celebrity passes but this time I am.
If they have enough footage to maintain a significant role for him in F&F7 it will be a HUGE hit at the box office.... Like Heath Ledger / Dark Knight. Hell, I'm sure they'll figure a way to re-write the script to incorporate his death and use the whole movie to pay tribute to him.
Problem is that movies aren't often shot in chronological order. That is to say the first thing they shoot isn't the beginning and the last thing isn't the end. I heard today that critical scenes for Walker's character were to be shot in Atlanta this week. In any case, the franchise is bigger than Walker, one of Universal's tentpoles. There will be a FF7.
Good taste doesn't figure into it. Fast/Furious is a billion dollar franchise and a major element in the financial workings of Universal. They need that film to open on July 11th, 2014, because they need the cash it will earn to finance other projects. The money is literally already spent. They will get back to filming the minute they have a handle on how to deal with the loss of Walker.
In his garage are: Carrera GT (the one in the accident) GT3RS Supra GTR Skyline Challenge Stradale E30 M3 BMW M1 Ford GT What an ultimate car guy. Such a shame.

Yes I know yet I think you are looking at it from a different perspective than I am because you mentioned the business aspect. I am looking at it from a more human/caring perspective. I do not think either one of us are wrong though.
Reports state that a lot of big action sequences had already been shot and scenes to shoot in Atlanta this week were a lot of dialogue. Something else to think about while the crew stands down are the shoot schedules of other stars in the franchise. While some of those guys aren't busy between FF films, guys like The Rock and Vin Diesel are which is no doubt causing some producer migraines right about now.
I"m sure both these guys were great men who lived a full and giving life. Simple fact is they made a tragic mistake by speeding on a public road where there exist obstacles like light posts and trees, unlike on a race track when you have an off. At 45mph it would had just been an accident they walk away from. At 65mph they prob walk away with some bruises. At 85mph+ results in what actually happened (i'm speculating) We all know that with this car at 45mph you are in very very much control and the car can stop within a very short distance. At that speed its like driving in slow motion. Let's stop blaming the car! Sure the CGT is a handful. Any rational person would drive it differently than a 458, or a skyline or a toyota camry. No one drives different cars in the same manner, we adjust our driving style to the vehicle.
Exactly. They have to move now because this is the time allocated within these people's schedules to make this movie and this movie is expected to earn high 9 figures in theaters alone. Universal will not want the production shut down one minute more than needed to write themselves out of the problem.
I am not disagreeing with you because no one should be driving ANY VEHICLE at it's limit on public roadways and endangering themselves and other motorist. After watching MaxPower's "impact" video it does not take a rocket scientist to know the driver was greatly exceeding the posted speed limit on that roadway. What could have been worse would have been the driver surviving yet killing his passenger/passengers.
PW's cars, Yahoo! He had a Challenge Stradale, a Ford GT, 997 GT3 RS and R34 Skyline etc. Great taste...
Look at this security cam footage. You can see the impact was just HUGE and the fire immediate. This explains why there are parts strewn all over the street. The crash was so severe it was like an explosion. There were also no other cars nearby at the time before the fire started that could have come to their rescue. I'm sure the smoke attracted attention which is why others started to show up after the fire started. My heart goes out to the devastated families left in the wake of this tragedy. Its obvious from the reports that both gentlemen were giving of their time and charitable, loved cars and were close friends. May they both RIP eternally. I have refrained from commenting on this crash simply because its all speculation at this point but I wanted to share something I found during a clip reporting on this crash that may be an important visual clue. When you click on this video link, stop the video at 0.24. The narrator states that this clip was taken moments before the car took off on its fateful journey...in the background there appears to be signs for the shop where the event was held. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE3izbGcor0 Restarting the video, pay attention to the R rear tire tread and sidewall, stop the clip at 0.29. To me, the tire looks clearly worn and almost slicked. The sidewall shows accumulation at the edges of melted rubber indicated a tire placed under extreme heat generating operation. Could it explain the donut skid marks in the road who knows. What I do know as an owner of a CGT is that tire condition is crucial to its handling and stability. I've driven mine 12700 miles now and have a decent appreciation for its handling characteristics. I absolutely love this car. To me, its the Porsche equivalent to the F40 in terms of analog, raw appeal. It takes an effort to drive well but is so rewarding. My ego is comfortable with driving at 6/7 10ths and I'll let the pros explore beyond that. I do know that a CGT on worn tires feels like its on ice. A close friend of mine who also owns a CGT and is a champion race car driver once advised me to keep fresh tires on the CGT. Here is a still shot of the R rear tire, again reportedly minutes before the tragic drive, taken from the clip Jas Image Unavailable, Please Login
You have a good point there. Heat could have built up rubber marbles and induced an out of control spin.
