http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns14368.html Grats! It could be that Paulie will be known as the man who forced F1 out of Oz.
Minardi are going to race. The point of the article is that Stoddy opened up a huge can of worms by pissing in the FIA's Wheaties.
Hey apparently the minardi mechanics fixed the car overnight to 2005 specs....so if they were able to do it, why all this fuzz... I guess they dont have the money to fix it up competitive.... but when have they been. Cheers
i saw Stoddart skulking around with whiteout and a magic marker... i think he was just scrubbing out the '4' and changing all the serial numbers to '2005'.
Remember that, under the Concorde agreement, points = TV$$s. If Minardi can get an unmodified 2004 car out among the "slower" 2005 cars, he's got a better chance of getting a point out of the season. Usually it takes massive attrition in a race to get Minardi some TV money. They've gone many seasons with no points at all. And the first race of the season tends to have high attrition. Maybe the rain forecast for qualifying convinced him that there'd be enough chaos in Melborne to get a Minardi in the top (e.g. remaining) eight. But I think Ferrari didn't want two brand new rookies out on the track trying to actually race other cars when the Ferraris went by. Even a rookie knows to get out of the way when the rookie is trailing around in DLBF. Red Bull was probably worried that it would be their team that Minardi got the TV $$s away from. The "civilized" courts apparently feel that poor people "deserve" hand-outs. That would explain the tax rate in Oz.
It seems that way, doesn't it? The fact how fast they "modified" their cars to become 2005 specs with parts ready made and standing by leaves a foul taste in the mouth. Paul is a jerk. Ironically with the turbulent weather, there is now a real chance however that his cars will not start dead last, but maybe even midfield.
