well, i just got the news, you need new headers, especially drivers side. i could have sworn i asked if they were ok at my 30k 5 months ago. anyway, i am being quoted 8-9k for the job at an indy shop, does that fall in line with whats normal. he wants to use tubi, but he's not sure he can get them. oh yeah, the shop is an autherized tubi dealer as well.

8-9K for headers??? Holy crap---RUN>>>>> Fabspeed's are around $2500 and install at any worthy independent shop shouldn't be more than $1,500.....

Yeah! Get a itemized bill from them - find how much for labor and the headers themselves. The fabspeed price is a little higher at 2750 + shipping + coating charges (optional).

Don't pay $9k for exhaust headers.

They are just bolt-on parts, and they can be purchased aftermarket for a third or less of your quote.

Sounds like they want engine out to do the job. Is that necessary? I thought you could change them "engine in".

Support your friendly (and somewhat currently buzzed) sponsor: Ricambi now sells the Fabspeed headers! In fact we sent some to a friendly customer in the Middle East last week. :)

We have been on board with Fabspeed for a few weeks. There are many many reasons we feel they represent the best option available on the market for our targeted customer base.

I can't paste links on this damn iPhone.... But if you search "fabspeed" on our site you can find them.

BTW, you can also purchase "exchange" rebuilt factory exhaust manifolds using higher grade stainless steel and one gauge thicker. They retain the stock appearance, factory heatshields, CO test ports and cost about $2k with shipping (aftermarket manifolds definitely look nicer, but do not retain the heatshields or CO test ports) After you receive them you ship your old ones back in exchange.

    Just another option.

First, congrats on becoming an F1 World Champ Fchat poster!

Second, nice post about the QV-London option.

Third, it might be worth mentioning that at least one brand of aftermarket exhaust headers gives a performance improvement on 355's, but for the life of me I can't remember if it's Fabspeed or Tubi or what.

Don't pay the 9K, that's ridiculous! If you do the QV London path, use a good independent to remove them and house your car. Send the heders off to QV and have the independent install the repaired units. Total time out of service should be about 2 weeks with luck. And yes, your headers are off to Great Britain for a nice vacation. Replacements are nice but more costly. If you do them with a cat and exhaust replacement it will be around the $9K you are being quoted, 2/3rds of which is parts.

On the other hand, PM gothspeed for another option...

Yikes! 10,000? Time for me to take a break from this place... ;)
Yes, one has proven to improve hp, but like you, I forget which one, as it was a while ago that those dynos sheets were posted.
