Hi, I have recently bought what I thought were brand new components on Ebay and I used Paypal from my credit card. The other party was an individual not a company.

I ended up with a box with some junk components which do not work and have a value of less than 10% of what I thought I bought. The seller is not answering my questions and has since been delisted from Ebay.

Now the guy insisted he ships with tracking so I have signed for the package and Paypal will not do anything from what I understand....since it's basically my word against the seller/shipper's....

I ***always*** thought as a last resort I can go to my credit card company for a chargeback!!! But listen to this -- the cc company mentioned that since Paypal is not the seller/shipper (who comitted the fraud), they cannot do anything!!!

I am pis%%@#$@#$@! off big time, do you guys have any suggestions or has this happened to anybody?

    THANKS!!!

unfortunately, nothing really. you can contact paypal directly and dispute the charges. you can take photographs of the merchandise. ebay will do next to nothing at all for you. what you can do, post up the guy's name/address and information and we, or others can track him down. maybe he lives in my neck of the woods? and if so, I can always drive by, take pictures of his home and.. well, imagine that. what if you sent him those pictures? trust me, it's worked on another site in the past.

    I second what Randy said....

You really have to be careful about what you purchase on ebay. That said I've only had one or two transactions out of 150 or so that I didn't feel good about. A learning experience.......

    Good luck

Depending on your credit card.. My Gold visa and Plat Amex - you can actually get make a claim with them for faulty goods, etc.

Might want to go the route the others mentioned and also give your credit card company/provider a call.

Depending on the value, ebay insures purchases and paypal also insures. I've had to file a couple claims, one was for a mis-represtented item. You'll need an appraisal, but it's pretty straight forward to file the claim.

There was a very informative thread about Paypal last October. Here is a link, remember the thread starts at the bottom of the page.

Call your credit card company right now!

Send them a letter explaining the circumstances. They will probably get you a refund.

But, Paypal will ban you, cancel your account, etc.

It worked for me on a $1700 purchase that was fraudulent. Paypal says you have to work through them, and when you don't you'll get your money, but you have violated their agreement, and they cancel you.

So, which do you want more, the money, or the use of a paypal account?
