About time for a new laptop and I want to use the old one as a backup. I know there is software out there that will sync two computers. Not sure how that will work because my current software is 3-4 years older than what my new computer will have along with old computer will have software packages and files I won't even use on the new one.

So I need my old laptop to keep everything it has plus now and then I hook it into my new computer and make sure I have a mirror of everything new.

    Suggestions?

http://allwaysync.com/ or have a look on www.tucows.com lots of shareware out there to do this

if the Pcs are similar (same processor architecture etc) you could use symantec ghost.

So even if the versions of my software are different on each, there shouldn't be a problem?

Maybe I should move everything to the new computer and then sync exactly. That way software versions wouldn't be a problem. The backup would be 100% like my new computer.

    Thanks.
