A few weeks back I was emailed a link from AAR concerning my request concerning how I should proceed with obtaining an autographed picture from Dan Gurney. The link sent from AAR would not load and I was informed I needed a 'pdf converter' so I searched and decided upon Panda. After downloading the free Panda converter it still did not work so I removed all the Panda files, so I thought, but now everytime I log-in I get a pop-up titled:

    Open File - Security Warning
    Name: ...ata\Local\Temp\Panda PDF Converter563705.exe

    Publisher: Performersoft LLC

    Type: Application

    From: C:\Users\New Users\AppData\Local\Temp\Panda...

I always cancel but I am tired of this pop-up so should I run it and then remove or how can I remove it without running it?

The best way to remove programs is to use "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel (accessible from the "Start" menu). This may be called something slightly different now, since I'm an XP dinosaur.

If you just manually deleted the files in the relevant program directory, you may not have gotten them all... that's where the "Add/Remove" utility is best to use. If the Panda program is no longer listed there (due to you deleting most, but not all, of the files), ironically you may have to re-install it and then un-install it from "Add/Remove". Let me know if this works.

    Paul,
You are correct in that I removed everything listed but would still got that pop-up but I was hesitant about rerunning/installing the program. Well I took your advice and ran the program and reinstalled it then I removed everything by date more so than by name and then restarted my pc and that solved my issue. My pc performance has also increased!!

    Thanks for your help,
    Gregg

You can find a free program called regscanner that will scan your registry and clean out anything named Panda or other files associated.

Sometimes you can uninstall at it appears to be gone, but still remains in the registry and can come back, especially spyware.

I am pretty simpleminded when it comes to computers so I try to keep it as simple as possible. I obviously did not allow the program to fully install so I had that lingering file floating around but all is good now.

CCleaner from Piriform.com works well in all those areas...and it's free, FWIW.

I'll give this rec a hearty 2nd & note that it will (at times) do a better job of doing an un-install than going through the control panel.

malwarebytes is a free malware cleaner.

the free version does not run realtime for protection but you can use it to scan your pc and find out if anything else is hiding in there.

Now I have another issue yet it is hardware related this time. While performing a system backup and at about 61% complete the disc takes off spinning like crazy and then started making a noise like it threw a belt. Now I cannot even eject the disc but I knew this day would eventually come as for the past 2yrs I would have to push the eject button for sometimes 5+ minutes until it opened.

It is a CD/DVD player/writer etc etc so I was hoping to get some advice on a decent replacement at a reasonable cost. I live right across the street from 'Best Buy' and my budget is the biggest factor and I came across this replacement:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+24x+Internal+Double-Layer+DVD%26%23177%3BRW/CD-RW+Drive/9402247.p?id=1218099651274&skuId=9402247

Are there things I need to specifically know as I am not a computer guy and cost is a major issue for me at this time.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gregg

ps, When I perform a backup are all of my photo's saved aswell or should I save them on a seperate disc? I ask this because my memory is getting low and I have a butt load of pictures saved on my computer.
