Wow, quite the turnout at the new Cars and Coffee! I'm sure others took better pictures, but I will share a few of mine. A couple of comments, good and bad: 1) The World of Speed Museum looks fantastic, and is a great location. I hope next time they consider opening the Museum early. 2) I think the concept of "elite" cars and other cars is bogus. First come, first served would be my suggestion. There were a lot of impressive cars in the regular parking, and some ho-hum cars in the "elite" parking. If you want to be "elite" get up early! 3) The Wilsonville Police speed trap on the main road out front was seriously uncool. What's next-- front plate checks? If they want to keep things reasonable, having a visible police presence makes sense, but having a police car hidden with radar running to catch speeders is just a revenue raising exercise. 4) Next time, I'll bring the Tesla and insist on one of the EV charging spots in front! All in all, good job Mark for organizing this! Thanks. Thanks Don, I saw you pulling out and did not realize you had been there in the 612. Just so many people and cars in the new location. Couple of response to your observations: 1) Yes, we have been working with World of Speed for four months to make this day happen. We understand that they are discussing opening at 9am on Saturdays, based on the crowd we put outside their museum. The lobby, food counter, and bathrooms were open at 8am. They had a lot to learn about our event, and they are already working on adjustments. 2) We had only 22 spaces in the Featured lot. These were filled by 8:45am by the following cars (off the top of my head) and then we replaced the early departures with other exotics: Ferraris: 458 Italia x2 458 Speciale Aperta (first public display) 456 355 spider 512BBi 360 spider 612 599 FF x2 1932 Packard 1930’s Cadillac ’55 Corvette on C7? running gear ($300k+ build) Aston Martin Vanquish Jaguar E-type Lambo Huracan Lambo Murcielago Lambo Jalpa Lotus Elise Cup R MacLaren 650s x3 MBZ SLS x3 (two coupes, one roadster) Noble M400 Panoz Esperante Porsche GT3 x2 Rolls Royce x2 Viper ACR coupe x2 3) SW 95th is a well known speed trap through the commercial park. We have made several mentions of it in our postings, with the encouragement for people to behave. Normally police sit up the street in side driveways behind the plants. For our event, they were parked out in the open in front of our event as a deterrent for those who needed reminding of their presence. They will NOT be writing tickets for front plates, window tint, or other silly offenses unless they have already pulled the vehicle over. 4) Don't forget the Tesla adapter, as these are not Tesla charging stations. ;-) And arrive early, because once the spaces are full, they are full. Hope to see you back soon!
The Wilsonville Police were on a side driveway out of sight, NOT sitting out in the open. It was fine for me, as I wasn't speeding (and had my trusty V1), but that's what they were doing when I left. All Teslas come with a J1772 adapter in the glove compartment! I still think you should make it first come, first serve, rather than setting yourself up as the judge and jury as to what constitutes an "elite" car. But, I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
I think organizing with the police is absurd. But so is taking a public event and trying to make it into some type of business/car show/private deal. Personally, the other location was better but it is what it is. I may just show up at the old Starbucks location here on out to meet with other enthusiasts not looking for the chaos. I really appreciate your work on getting car people together but we weren't having that problem before... Oh, and I'm one of the 'OGs'; my car is even in your main C&C picture from 08. BTW;the Redmond C&C model only works if your in an area where the exotics out number the Hondas/Subarus...
