Peace Corps

Man I have been attempting to sign up for the past hour and cannot get my damn resume to fit/load, fracking 'puters!!! I am very surprised with the strict requirements but then again I am not surprised by them at all. My pursuit of another LEO position is still floundering like a "fish on the sand" and I have always had the mindset that I feel I need to give back in some form or fashion but that 'volunteer app' is giving me a headache!!!

I guess it is time too speak with a recruiter directly?

 

Don't be an arse ok but if you have some real advice I would appreciate it!

I appreciate the "heads up" yet I am not even sure if I will be accepted. I guess one would have to truelly know me to understand my intent.

My bestest and closest friend from junior high and high school is a minister and makes several trips a year to different countries helping those who are in need. She is so thankfull for the opportunity that she cannot wait to tell me about her latest trip, (I think that is why we connected so much earlier in life because me are of the same mindset).

That is my reasoning behind my investigation, I have a deep seeded desire and need too make some sort of difference in others lifes. My reward and payment is based upon the kindness,joy and hope I can hopefully bring to someone else.

 

This f'ing computer is %^&&^$$## the 1/4 of a brain I have left OUT of me!!!! I spoke with a rep who said she was emailing me and then mailing me an app simply because I cannot get my resume configured correctly. I scanned the damn thing and it is on my 'puter but AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Why do this simplest things in life become the most annoying???

I guess those people were right, the only peace you will get is when you are dead.

 

I have heard that horror story on numerous occasions either on the news or in the papers. For some members here it may be difficult to believe but for many many many years I have been one of the few people in our group to go to for advice. I like to think it is because I can keep an unbiased and open mind and see the big picture so I could help educating people in certain area's. I just know that there is a place for me somewhere as a volunteer with someone, heck police work is basically a volunteer work if one really see's it for what it truelly is, imo of course.

I am about halfway through my online application process and I have noticed how much some form of formal training and education is asked about. I am at the stage now of needing three letters of reference and one of the letters, they say, should be from a past volunteer position and that supervisor. I have no prior volunteer experienceso I am waiting for a call back from the person I have spoken with allready.

If this does not workout I will look into AmeriCorps. I still have a chance of being hired on with the Austin County Sheriffs Office aswell as the Galveston County Sheriffs Office but these positions are after the first of the year. I just know I do not want to go back to retail as I need something more personaly rewarding.

I respect where you are coming from and that will be my pursuit if the PC does not workout. I think alot of my reasoning stems from the enjoyment I get from experiencing new cultures and people and their way of life. The USA is still the most powerful country in the world in my opinion and I do realize the struggle we are having with poverty yet...... I realize that there are many more countries and nations who are much worse off.

Really at this point I am torn between both and just going through the process and see where I end up or who will offer me an opportunity.

 

FINALLY the Peace Corps resolved their new internet format issue which allowed me to complete my application process. I guess I should call my dad in the morning and also tell my mother thank you for such great genes. Sorry I tend to ramble when I am happy and once again excited about what the future holds for me.

 

Yepper she will but hopefuuly not for very long. I still have a few goals on my "bucket list" that I want to achieve while I am still young and healthy enough to accomplish them. I have not been accepted yet though as my application will be reviewed and then may require a medical exam for verification purposes, atleast another two months I suspect.

Thanks for your support. It seem's if I am chosen I have several places I can request with one being Asia which I would prefer over Africa but I will go where I am needed the most.

Thank the lord I learned how to doggy paddle early in life although it took some time before I realized it was just a flotation experiment, eventually I was gaffed and hauled aboard.
