My buddy Andy did work on their box set--he works for Cameron Crowe, primarily in their Vinyl Films/Records entity--and shipped a set to me today. It covers 1990-1992, and contains 4 vinyls albums, 3 CDs and a DVD, along with books and a copy of their original demo cassette. Pretty cool stuff from a great era in music!

Pearl Jam is playing Austin City Limits music festival in October. I'd love to go see them live, but I don't think I'd love it enough to pay $180 for a ticket.

Seriously? I think Pearl Jam is great, but if that's true, they're turning into Barbara Streisand.

    +1!!!!!! Really more like 90-95/96ish. ;)

There's a few grunge cover bands playing HoB in Houston on August 29th. Covering, AIC, PJ, Soundgarden and one other band. I really want to go.

If you haven't been to ACL before, you wouldn't understand why you'd pay 180.
However, if you haven't bought your ticket already, they are sold out of three day passes. You'll need to find one on craigslist or ebay.

Got mine @160, and I'll be there. It's gonna rock!

People still listen to Pearl Jam? I thought they died off with the whole 'grunge' fad.

That's the odd thing. I have a few friends that have been followers ever since. They tour all the time, come out with new albums, and bring in the crowds. Their wars against ticketmaster's stupid fees got them out of the limelight of MTVness. But they've been going on strong.

Grunge wasn't a fad. Maybe the clothing, but it was the last mainstream music that had a long lasting profound affect on the music world. Almost every new "rock" band these days will list AIC, PJ, Soundgarden, STP, and so on as being their influences.

This is awesome! I saw PJ in San Diego one night, then Vegas the next night. Hope they come around again.
