    1950.
Phil was there as a participant in the early days winning his class with a Packard he restored, IIRC.
He was also winning in that era at the PB road races.

Phil's 1938 V12 Packard with a Brunn body was a Best of Show - not sure in what year. He also had a Packard Model 30 from around 1910 that was once called one of 10 best in the country by Automobile Quarterly. Phil personally restored these cars.

Didn’t he also restore a Pierce Arrow that was his family’s? I think it also won best of show.

I believe the first few years from 1950 and up BoS winners were essentially new or cars of that model year, but the first classic car winning BoS was Phil Hills Pierce-Arrow in either ‘54 or ‘55.

26 May 1951, 2nd PB Concours, held at the practice tee near the tennis court, included:
James Kimberly with Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta Touring #0010 M.

Highly recommended is the excellent book "Pebble Beach - A Matter of Style" by Robert T. Devlin, published 1980 by Newport Press.

AFAIK the Pebble Beach concours was on 23.05.1951.

On 26.05.1951 Kimberly crashed (rolled) 0010 M in race 3 (Pebble Beach Cup).

Yes, I believe it was his aunt’s car in which he learned to drive.

The aforementioned Devlin book (page 33 and page 302) states 26 May 1951 which was a Saturday. Race practice on Saturday, Concours and races on Sunday.
