I have an 02 360 spider. My uncle just bought a 2000 360 coupe F1. He just had it for two days and something strange started happening with the alarm system. When using the black fob, intermittently, when trying to arm/lock the doors, the alarm would just beep several times and the lights would flash several times and would not lock or arm the alarm. This would happen several times and then after a couple tries, it would lock and arm. We tried opening and closing all the doors/truck/engine lid etc., to make sure all contacts were closed. They seemed to be fine.

Then we used the red fob and everything arms perfectly normal. If we switched back to the black fob, the problem would repeat itself again. Very strange. I believe the black fob was always used with the car. The red fob was stored with other things in the owner's manual pouch and seemingly not used.

Anyone ever experienced this problem or have any insights?

Does it happen to both black fobs or just one?

He only has one blk fob and one red fob. I think we'll try to change the batteries today and see if it clears up.

Wondering if you move the batt from the black fob to the working red fob - would the issue follows?

Tried new batteries with the blk fob, same problem. Ask the dealer tomorrow. We'll see what they say.

Eric- Squeeze the battery terminals closer together in the fob and make sure there is no corrosion on them. I have some battery terminal spray that I spray on a piece of aluminum foil and use a toothpick to apply to the fob terminals if they were ever corroded. Will prevent corrosion from reforming.

You can also try a resynchronizing of the fob, by pressing it 3 times within 10 seconds and see if that helps. That procedure and details on the alarm system are contained in the 360 workshop manual, which you can download for free from this site:
