PEDAL BOX MONDIAL QV

I am restoring an 85 Mondial QV (euro) and am working on the pedal box. I removed the main shaft to take the clutch and brake pedal off to refinish them. This shaft is splined at the end near the clutch pedal and since i didn't know, i did not mark it for replacement.

Can someone describe the procedure for indexing the splines on the clutch pedal when re-installing the main shaft? Thank you
