NASCAR has suspended driver Carl Long for 12 Sprint Cup races as a result of rules infractions committed during last weekend's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Long's car was found to be in violation of technical rules, with its engine having exceeded the maximum specifications.

Long and his wife and team owner Danielle have been suspended for 12 races, docked 200 driver points, suspended from NASCAR until August 18 and placed on probation until December 31.

Crew chief Charles Swing had the same penalty and was also fined $200,000.

This ends the career of Carl Long, who doesn't have $200,000 in his team, let alone $20,000 to pay a fine, if it was that much.
