This full synthetic has the highest zddp content around for street application.
Anyone using it in a 308?
Interested in any feedback on this product.
Currently running Valvolene 10-50 synthetic, but purely on recommendation of Po/mechanic and that's what was in it.
Research probably leads me to a higher zddp product and was going to go to the VR-1 but that is a 10-40w (zddp 1200-1300 ppm).
Using Penrite's full zinc 10-50w in the Alfa. Seems to be fine.

There is plenty of oil related stuff on the site (and others) so not trying to start an oil argument. Just wanting feedback on the Penrite.

We have discussed all of this many times in the past, suggest you use the search function to explore the various discussions..

One of the best competition engine builders in NSW (Smith's Engine Research) has conducted extensive dyno testing and wear analysis with different oils. His advice is that the best oil for a 70's Ferrari engine is Royal Purple HPS. You should run 10-40. The tolerances in your engine were designed for a 40 weight oil. HPS is around 1600ppm zddp from memory.

zddp above 2000ppm becomes corrosive. 2200ppm in Penrite is a marketing ploy, "zddp is good, we have more zddp, therefor we are best". Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

I also had good results with Redline 10-40 in my Daytona, 1500ppm zddp, although at $600 per oil change, it's quite expensive. Royal Purple was around $400. I also like Brad Penn, which is a partial synthetic using a Pennsylvania base stock. The best lubricating mineral oils come from PA, it's a geology thing.
