Just visited the Penske Racing museum here in Scottsdale Arizona where they have this Porsche Spyder RS on display. Beautiful DHL / Penske car that won Le Mans overall in 2008.
    Carbon fiber momocoque chassis with a 3.4 liter 503 H.P. V-8.

Cool drawing! I love that car. It raced in the LMP2 class and won its class at the 24, but not the overall. That went to the Audi in the LMP1 class.

definitely not overall victory, despite it being a very impressive engineering exercise in LMP2. It's a shame Porsche didn't make more of it's attempt at a privateer entered prototype racer, because as far as LMP2 cars went, this was the best. That being said, Porsche fans had to wait until this year to see the 919 win Le Mans overall in the LMP1H category. The 919 supposedly puts out somewhere around 1400 hp, vs less than 600 hp in the LMP2 RS example pictured above.

Both of course are fantastic examples of Porsche engineering, designed and built for their respective classes. I was recently in Scottsdale and saw the RS Spyder. I also managed to see it race back in the day, and watched the 919 win at Le Mans from the grandstands, so I can say that I love both race cars...

Thanks Steve... I misspoke , it seems like it took the LMP2 victory / American LeMans.

I saw it in its first race at Sebring. Unfortunately it retired. In qualifying it was giving the LMP1 Audi's fits.
