I know of one particular situation where a certain individual has claimed another individual owns Ferraris that are fakes, and has given this information to both Ferrari and the Italian government. As far as I am aware, there is nothing fake about the cars.

I can't name names at the moment, but this fraudulent whistle blower seems to love to cause grief and make a lot of people have to legally defend themselves.

Bottom line....be careful....VERY careful......anyone can sue for any reason, no matter if what they say is true or not...

seems someone in Italy with enough money to have ferraris plural could pay enough leg breakers to get the mouth to shut up. $10k buys a lot of kneecaps nowdays. :)

the whistle blower, who claims the cars are fake, is in Europe, and has contacted Italian authorities and Ferrari themselves. More than a kneecap job is a possability....

Last I heard it's not illegal to own a "replica". Unless the guy is trying to make money by using the supposed "replicas" or selling them as the real deal, who cares? Why would Ferrari ever get involved at all??

Seems like this would only matter if someone was passing off a recreation of a 250 GTO, P4, etc, as being the real thing.

Again, a pointless thread if you cant tell us who it is.

In the US we call that kind of "I know but cant tell you" line "McCarthyism."

No, but earlier this year, a judge in Italy ordered someone's car be crushed then melted down...

This is happened more than once, and if someone doesn't have the funds to fight the authorities and Ferrari, they are in trouble. In the case mentioned above, it was in no way proven the car was a fake, and they destroyed it anyway!!!

OK, so how do we go about being careful? You don't tell us who the guy is or where he is getting his targets...anyway, what is the danger if we don't live in Italy?

The Ferrari company and the Italian government can now come to Dallas, Tx. and put your car through the crusher? I'll bet they would get a good look at an (un)concealed handgun first.

    Whatever...

Just curious with your choice of words. Are you claiming the car was real?

Keep an eye out for Lamarossas car, TR 512m (#76) isn’t going to wash with the Ferrari SpA and the Italian government, so whatever happens to his car will obviously have a trickle down effect with other replicars in the States.

Maybe they should just start a program to hunt down, buy, and crush all remaining Pontiac Fieros -- those that have not already burned to the ground due to the oil leaks.

I think Im lost in this thread. Are you saying that some guy is selling fake Ferrari's? If this is true, the buyer deserves it if they didnt check out the car in the first place.

No! What I am saying is a certain dealer/broker/collector in Europe CLAIMED someone here in the US was selling fake Ferraris, and told Ferrari and the Italian government that. The cars are NOT fake. The person in the US had to spend a lot of time, effort and money to win his case. The person who filed the complaint is still trying to cause grief.

It should be rather obvious who the made the claim is. I need permission from the US party who won before I can reveal his name, but I think some of you already might know the whole story.....
